Take it out for dinner and a show... I think you know the rest.

Actually, I meant to ask: Do you need to un-corrupt it later? Because if not, nothing can be simpler.

No, I just need it to not work if someone were to open it.  I don't need it to ever work again.

I'm still not clear. If you don't want someone to read it, you can delete it. If you want to make it unreadable to everyone, including you, then that's easy -- open it in Notepad and delete the first 10 characters or so. That will hose it as far as Word is concerned, although you might be able to see chunks of text. If you want to wipe out all the text but make it look like the file is still intact on the disk, then replace it with another file with garbage in it.

However, if you want to make it unreadable to everyone but you, then password-protect it using MSWord.

Or you could just write it in Esperanto.

Sorry, I'm distracted by work.

Try opening it in Notepad and deleting the first 10 or so characters, then email it to yourself and try opening it. Usually that wreaks havoc on the file, although some text might still be discernable.

This involves a deadline and a grade, doesn't it.

The paper was due on Friday.  I lose 1/3 a letter grade a day.  I've got about 8 pages, but one section is holding me up.  Since there are no classes, he's allowing us to submit our papers through email as a means of checking them in.  Then we bring a printed copy to him later.  He also claims not to allow revision between emailing and turning in the hard copy.  I figure, I'll just submit a corrupted but mostly complete version and he'll never know that the section I've yet to write is not there.

Sorry, but my ass is on the fucking line.  I've still got another five pager to write tonight.  My professors stacked the final 3 weeks with all the real work.  With my final grades for the classes slipping fast, I'm out of options.

If you want to just mess with someone by sending them a document that they can't open, change the extension on your favourite exe to 'doc' and send that.

Though, for the life of me, I can't imagÀÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏàáâãäåæçèéêìíîï

Good, that's done.  Now I just need 4.5 pages of Augustine vs. Aquinas on the subject of war.

Aquinas has somewhat narrow views about whether a war is justified or not and Augustine is fairly wide open.  This shouldn't take too long.  I'll start around 2 AM.  My first exam is tomorrow at 3:30, so I can sleep it off.

That icon keeps making me think it's Chris posting.

Also, as a quick tip to increase the length of a paper change the font on period to 16 instead of 12, it's hard to notice but it can add a good bit. Also, make sure the margins are at 1", because Open Office has a default of < 1".

I've always preferred content to length.

Best advice I ever got:

Your papers should be like a women's skirt.  Long enough to cover the subject, short enough to keep it interesting.

I just had to completely revise 3.5 pages of one of the essays.  I fucked it up big time.  I've got an easy to follow outline for putting it together in the morning.  I also have 5 pages of handwritten material for the other essay.  Overall, each paper will probably deserve an A- to B+ before the markdown for lateness.  I'm not worried.  Even with failing both papers I'd still pass each class with a D or C.  I'm just worried my GPA will fall too much if I do.  I need a 3.3 to maintain my scholarship.  I'm good for now, but I can't afford to much of a slippage or I'm fucked.

If you want something that looks like a Word document, but wont open, just get any file (A zip full of crap, if you want it to look long) and change the extension to '.doc'

I don't see how this will help you pass an exam though?

He's not passing an exam, but submitting a paper. He needs a delaying tactic.

I think he should simply seduce the professor.

What do you call it when you give a mustache a mustache ride?

If I totally missed something it's cause I'm distracted.  I've got an hour until my next exam and I'm waiting for a delivery of some gin.

Delivery of some gin is an appealing concept.
