Hello guys !

I am french and I share the same passion as you : computers ! What did I come here for ?

I was looking for an english-speaking forum about computers. And... I found it !

So, what else about me ?

  • I love computers and... I am a geek :D
  • I'm a website coder (XHTML/CSS, PHP/MySQL)
  • I'm a linux user (but I'm running on windows right now)
  • I love english, that's why I want to improve myself
  • I'm actually okay at this language for my level (I study english at school but it's too easy for me)
  • However, I could have difficulty to understand you at times.

Voilà ! C'est tout ce que j'ai à dire !

That's all I have to say. Nice to meet all of you !

PS : If I've done any mistake or something, please correct me.

Hi there.  I took French in school but you're way better with English than I ever was with French.  Good job.  In fact, you're better with English than most of the people who come through here and English is supposed to be their native language.

I don't think that's true. I mean granted from an international business point of view there are more advantageous languages to learn, but I don't think people are opposed to it.

Lots of my high school peers opted to speak French, although Spanish seemed favoured by most I guess.

I personally am pushed to pick up any language that can't be compiled, but I was keen to try and I enjoy the language, we just lacked teacher with both a vocation for teaching and an ability to speak French. Most had one or the other, but not both.

But no I wouldn't say it was the opposite.

Had I spent as much time learning and speaking a single spoken language as I've spent learning and usening dozens of computer languages, I could be earning 6 figures and traveling the world as an interpreter.

Kuddos to you, we share the same interest in striving to be mistaken for native English speakers (one day). If I visit France again some day, I sure hope I run into you because not many French seem to care much for foreign languages and French is one tough cookie to learn... I've tried for several years but had to bail out because, well, I suck.
