hahahahahahahahaha Satan worshiping hahaha.

I really hope I go through a new geek-up soon...cause honestly, geeking out is fun! My friends make fun of me for it...but they're missing out.

As probably no one here knows (I'm new), my favourite thing to get geeky about is that undeniable book series, Stupid Sexy Flanders. It is because of that series that I have experienced the true fun and joy of being a geek...it's not all pocket protectors and thick-lens glasses! It's actual fun!
Ever since the Stupid Sexy Flanders series reached its end in 2007, my life has reached an all-time ungeek level. I'm starting to become...dare I say it...normal! *scream* Seriously. I'm slowly shifting from geek girl to normal girl, slowly but surely. Instead of pondering whether Crookshanks is an animagus or simply just an ugly cat, I'm pondering whether I'd look better with eyeliner, mascara, or both. I'm no longer having 10-page forum arguments with Ron/Hermione supporters over the fact that the pair don't get along; Harry and Hermione compliment each other much better. Instead, I'm having arguments with my father over texting bills. This is horrible!! I am utterly woebegone by this new development!
Okay, so maybe my problem is just that I'm simply growing up, and it feels strange. As pathetic as it sounds, Stupid Sexy Flanders has been a huge part of my life since the age of 8. Now that it's over...I dunno if I'll ever get over the loss of all the fun I once had. Cause not many people are still passionate about Stupid Sexy Flanders anymore, now that the series has been concluded. There's no more reason to speculate on how it might end; what twists Rowling will dab in; which characters she'll pair together. It's incredibly depressing, and I'm completely serious when I say that.

This isn't just a thread about Stupid Sexy Flanders. It's a thread about any big fandom that's come to an end and now you're sad cause people don't care anymore. Anyone feel similarly about something?

And also, are there any fandoms out there where people still get hilariously worked up over what's gonna happen, like how Stupid Sexy Flanders used to be? Cause seriously...the arguments I had with some people...they were downright hilarious, and really exhilarating. But then again, I love to argue....

If that post made absolutely no sense at all, I'm really sorry. I tend to ramble a lot.

Indeed; I think that, as children, the Hansons had prettier and more feminine hair than I did. And I'm a girl. *woe is me* :-P

Hahahahaha! Fleetstrike, a Hanson shirt? That's awesome. No exaggeration.

mryellow : haha, not quite so. They're not really the drinking-themselves-silly, throwing-televisions-out-of hotel-windows kind of musicians. But it gave me a very funny mental image.

xolik: Thanks for the pluses. :-D I know my rainbow colors well. And my Asian celebrities.

Entertainment / Re: favourite Anime/Manga

Ouran, Death Note, Inuyasha, Bleach, and Gintama are all good.

One that I don't think has been discussed yet is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (or, if you like dubs better, "When They Cry." But believe me. The original Japanese is always way better.) It's reeaaally disturbing, but somehow fascinating. If you don't like gore and really creepy themes, then I wouldn't recommend it, but it really is creative and overall a great anime. Its disturbing parts are clashed together with really funny, fluffy parts, but somehow it all works together really well. It's kind of bipolar the way it switches between horrifying and hilarious. But it's really awesome. You should def watch it.

Others that I'm not sure have been mentioned: Darker Than Black (looooove this one), Lucky Star, Sailor Moon (of course!), Blood+, D Gray-Man...I love almost every anime I see. Can't go wrong!

But just remember: dubs are awful. Amen.

As for manga, I prefer the super shojo ones, like Honey & Clover, Kitchen no Ohimesama, Crimson Hero, and whatnot. I've come to the conclusion that shojo is better as manga, and shonen is better as anime. Dunno why. I just think so.

Hello all, and thanks for the welcomes!  :-D

bananaskittles: hahahahahaha yeah, I agree, I can go into weeaboo-fangirl mode quite easily; it's difficult to suppress. Asians are just so hot...! [/must...stop...the weeaboo...]

Chris : *sobweepcry* W-what? You don't think I'm a geek?! I must prove it to you! What are your qualifications for being one? I probably fit in somehow.

sociald1077: hahaha yeah. 90s are my favourite decade. But Hanson is still an active band, I assure you! They just have deeper voices now. Thank God.

FleetStrike: hahaha sweater vests. Those are a part of my school uniform.

Novice: I always planned to get back to Bleach, but I keep getting sidetracked! *cough procrastination* I have an extremely short attention span. The classic 26-episode anime have always been easier for me. But I promise I'll catch up with Bleach! ...someday.... :-P

New Geeks on the Block / Guess what. I'm a geek.
« on: July 26, 2009, 09:38:26 AM »
Yes. Indeed I am a geek. Geek is one of my favourite words. I am the epitome of geek.

Well. Not really. I suck with computers and I couldn't tell you a thing about Star Trek except that they wear dumb-looking outfits in it...but besides that, I Am Geek. Hear me roar.

My geek credentials:
-My favourite thing in the world is Stupid Sexy Flanders. Well, a lot of people like Stupid Sexy Flanders, but I'm like a loser because of how much I like it. Do you ship? Ha! If you don't know what I meant by that, I suppose I am a different caliber of geek than you. Because I ship hardcore. I ship against the norm. I ship H/Hr. Hence the "Pumpkin" in my username. AND I read/write fan fiction!
-I love Lord of the Rings. When I was younger I wished I could turn into a hobbit so that I could marry Peregrin Took. Not even ashamed. Well, maybe I am a little. It was a dark time in my life.
-I kind of hate my friends. ...Well. I don't hate hate them. I just, you know, hate them. They piss me off extremely and I just really want to escape them at the moment. Internet friends are so much easier than real life friends. If you get sick of internet friends you can turn your computer off. ;) Just kidding. Believe it or not I have no internet friends. I'm a lone Pumpkin. (P.S. I have no idea what hating your friends has to do with being a geek. But whatev.)
-My favourite band is Hanson. You know, MMMBop? That stereotype of them really needs to go away though, btw.
-Most of my other favourite bands are Asian. Geeks tend to like Asians.
-Yes, I watch anime. Ouran High School Host Club, Death Note, and Inuyasha are my favorites. I used to love Bleach, but it got boring.
-Grammar is my best friend. If you ever catch me making a grammatical error in my posts, please correct me. I will promptly begin to roast myself on a spit as punishment for such a heinous crime. The only grammar point I have no regard for are participles; I misuse them all the time and I don't care. Sometimes fixing them sounds stupid.

Other (not so important) stuff:
Real name: Joan. Yes, that does make me sound like an old lady. Blame my parents.
Age: 17 (How long have I been 17? A while.) Sorry for the War and Peace by Dostoyevsky bit. Too good to pass up.
Country: USA...but you probably already guessed that, right?

Anyway, this is getting too long. Sorry. It's probably boring. At any rate, I hope to exploit my geekdom peacefully within the cyber walls of this geeky forum.

~Mozie
