Hello all, I am Art. I know nothing of spelling or grammar so if you like to flame.. I'm an easy target.(Jonny Blaze says it best: Flame On!)

Interests: Cars, Technology, Forensics, (beginner) Scripting, Linux, Mac, Windows (how can something break so much and not be a safety hazard?), pretty much anything that clicks, whizzes, or whirls.

Vices: I chain smoke and spend way to much time in my home brew lab

Work: Work for a Government Agency doing Digital Forensics

Home: small box of an apartment that stays heated by electronics- I don't even touch the thermostat in the winter.

Anything else you wanted to know, just ask.

I don't welcome new people because they generally don't stay. However, I must applaud your effort to conform. Assimilation will be much more simple if you continue to apply yourself despite your shortcomings.

Welcome. Excellent introductory thread. How'd you manage to get in to digital forensics? It's something I've had an interest in for ages but haven't managed to turn into a career.

We don't flame out of spite, we flame out of pity. So far you've made an excellent start, so unless your posts start to read like an cocaine addicted, ADHD, sugar junkie hopped up on goofballs you should be ok.

Any who, I got into the field by being one of the best on my block at all electronic media, attended some workshops, then I eventually found a degree in Computer Forensics. From there I applied myself to learn the most I could about storage media and file systems.

Very interesting field form the outside looking in, the average day.. boredom.

Overall goal is to work with the FBI's National Initiative for Innocent Images (stopping and arresting child pornographers)

So which encryption system gives you the biggest headache?

I have a lot of bodies in the garage, and I was thinking of encrypting them so that if the police find them buried in my garden I can claim they aren't bodies.

PS. You can encrypt bodies right? I assumed all I had to do was run them through a deli slicer and then feed them into the floppy drive and then run an encryption program.

Woodchipper?

Melting the hard drive dose a good job too

(Serious note I use something called Rainbow Tables from Access Data, eats though most encryption schemes in a few minutes)

Aren't Rainbow tables are just a collection of all possible key pair values? Essentially a pre-prepared brute force attack?

exactly that, they take preprepared keys, about 7 TB per table.. works pretty quick though, so overall a nice product

and I'm a sock sock shoe.. and where the hell did my other shoe go kinda guy.

That'll be nothing once I complete my fast factoring algorithm.

Say goodbye to public key encryption and global economy everyone. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Unfortunately, I put that project on the backburner for now. (Right now it has the same efficiency as brute force)

I'm still trying to figure out how to get bobert to give me those random replys. If he did he would be like my best friend IRL (also Bobert)...

I can't use IRC at work either.. fear of death and all.. the Government is a tiny bit anal about anything inside the network going outside the network.. Forums are about the only form of chat I have access to now

Just put his name in any sentence and he sees it and responds. FOO has written some rules about how he behaves/responds, but Im not sure what they are.
Things like putting the word Bobert at the beginning of a sentence with a comma; or just using the word Bobert in a sentence somewhere, or specifically speaking to him. He responds a little differently to each situation.

I done didn't write no nothing. I just flipped some switches and diddled some settings in his configuration files.

Bobert is a Megahal script running on a standard eggdrop irc bot. He listens and learns from anything said publicly in the channel, but if you start a sentence with his name, or include his name (case sensitive, so hi Bobert works, but hi bobert doesn't, etc) he'll reply by trying to figure out what you were talking about and putting together a response from his index.

You can do most of the standard eggdrop commands too.

I had a wonderful 20 min conversation with Bobert last night, he is an extreamly entertaining bot, I must say congrats to Foo for creating him. I am in awe!
