yeah yeah i know i posted in the other one first... sorry. anyway i was just wondering how do you put that picture under your name? also can you tell me some of the nitty gritty of this forum i.e. how to put a picture in ur signiture and also how to put a picture in here.
-
Hello Diz, let me be the first to welcome you to Teh GeEkeRy!
This forum uses something called BBcode. Simple code that allows you to put things such as images, lists, url's..bla bla bla
To make a picture, just put (http:// and ) around the url to the picture. You can ask any one of us to host it for you if you are having trouble with that.
-
oh ok... nah im right with the hosting... so you just type
(http://openspace.150m.com/pictures/people/amy.JPG)
.... well ill see if this works.
-
YAY! id did it i did it!... sorry for the momentary outburst of joy... i promise it wont happen again.
-
If the little red X box is the image you were aiming for, then good job. Otherwise, one of us will host that image for you.
-
Welcome to " The Geekery ", DiZ. To get your avatar ( the little picture beside your name) goto your profile and you will be able to upload an image from your computer to use as your avatar.
-
Welcome

Welcome Diz

Greetings & salutations.

Hey Diz and welcome to The Geekery.
-
thank you for the warm welcoming.... is it so that everyone cannot see that pic up there? cause i can see it.
is there any conditions on the avatar? size, simentions or content?
-
I just see a red X.
I don't know about any content restrictions, but the size limitis 65x65 pixels. I have a bunch of avatars that I could host on my webspace, but I'll have to get there later this week. I'm down at my parents house right now helping them out with their house. I'll post a link to 'em later.

Hey Revka, I just noticed your sig at started thinking, "What the... when did I say that?"
That's one of the few time's that I'm actually quote in someone's profile. I'm the man now, dog (http://www.yourethemannowdog.com).
-
I'll have to look around to find it again. It was in the 'Anarchy' forum, I think. I read it and thought it was fitting, so I started using it in my sig. I thought the pic looked a little bland without some comment with it.
Edit:
Yup... after a little searching I finally found it. It's in the "KILL!" (http://www.gotthegeek.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=120) thread.
-
yeah that would be great if you could host those avatars.
-
All finished! If you want an avatar, just go Here (http://209.225.8.65/jpnelson79/avatars/). There are a ton of 'em up there, so if you're on a slow connection it will take a while to load.
Comments are always welcome.
Edit:
Just open up the properties for the URL.
-
a ton? are you sure? i htink its more about 400000million billion tons....
my dad always says: "ive told you a million times before, dont exagerate!"
-
Well... there are a lot of 'em there, that's all I know. It's still nowhere near the amount of avatars over at HN (http://www.hackernetwork.com), but it's enough.
I've just completed one for those of you who don't have the bandwidth enough to view all those pics in a short time. It's just a bunch of links to pics. Here (http://209.225.8.65/jpnelson79/avatars/index2.htm) it is...
-
what do you mean not enough bandwitdth? i have a 14.4 k modem and it only took 2 min at max to get em all up. no broken or missing either....
-
Wow... only that long, huh?
Actually my main objective there was to see how fast I could actually get that page up and working. I used a combination of DOS commands, a text editor, and Excel to get that page up in about 5 minutes. Not bad.

[/i]I was going to ask you how you put that together, but stopped myself, because I already had a pretty good idea.
And now I see I was right. :D
