Another couple of minor things that piss me off:
  • People in (other) forums who are unable to read a post through and comprehend it before replying.
  • Admins in (other) forums who tell me off for getting angry at people in (other) forums who are unable to read a post through and comprehend it before replying.

The general rule goes: d/dx (f(g)) = df/dg * dg/dx. With f = tanh-1(x) and g = sin(x).
Oh goodness... I'd forgotten the chain rule... The chain rule!

*goes white-faced and passes out*

Anarchy / A Maths Question
« on: June 01, 2006, 06:22:00 PM »
I dunno if we have any Maths geeks here but I could really use a hand with this. I'm doing some revision for an upcoming Maths exam. I'm trying to find the differential of 'inverse tanh of sin x'. The answer is supposed to be 'sec x', but I get 'sec squared x'. You can follow my working here (which also makes it much easier to understand the problem in the first place).

Thanks,
Dan

Political Opinions / Re: Gun Control
« on: June 01, 2006, 03:05:54 PM »
Guns are one of the reasons that America came into being, if the revolutionaries hadn't had guns, then they would either have continued to pay their taxes to Britain, or they would have been crushed before the Revolutionary War ever started.
Right now, I really want to run head-first into a brick wall. It might be less painful...

But, if the British hadn't had guns, then it wouldn't have mattered in the first place. And the British wouldn't have had guns if they hadn't been invented. So we need to look to the inventor of the gun to take responsibilty... Come on! Own up!

Why would you dual-boot two versions of Windows? Why?!

Split personality and they're both masochistic?
Surely that's just two user accounts? :P

How many members should a squirrel have before he gets a cabinet for them?
Does anyone need more than one?

How did you migrate between the boards? Do they just use the same database back-end (so you just have to point the new front-end at the existing database) or did you have to do some stuff on the database itself? Or did you just copy over every single entry by hand?

Accually I think its Hallowed Be Thy Name. But its been a long time since I heard Mariner so it might be that.

It is Hallowed Be Thy Name. Though this song clip did not come from an Iron Maiden song.  :-o
Well, I knew it was Iron Maiden, and it's quite hard to differentiate between solos so I just guessed. :P
