Maybe those two computers are being built to come up with the ultimate question.  Now that would be pretty dang geeky.

I rigged Lotus: 123 to do some looping stuff (that it was never designed to do) and also play a clip from AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap!" (cuz it was dirty, and it was done dirt cheap).

C'mon... back me up on this Demo!

Quote from: catwritr

I regularly play V:tES and got victory points in the last tournament (only my second evar) I participated in.

My wife used to love that game.  In fact she has a huge stack of cards from before it got that name and from the first Sabbat expansion.
She's an Electrical Engineer

Me?  Well I run a D&D game...

Ah, Jyhad.

It's true, I was there when he did it.  We had a client that insisted on receiving nightly call center reports with numbers crunched from their data in a Lotus spreadsheet... Revka got sick of having to manually mangle this stuff, so he rigged up some nifty scripting in Lotus to handle the formatting and it played that very WAV file when it finished so we could tell when it was done even if we were at a different workstation working on something else.  It was pretty l337.

My primary geek factors:

1) I currently spend all of my time on all of my home computers in Slackware Linux.  I only boot into Windows to play games.

2) My background is in Nuclear Science, but I work as a server admin for a data center where I do day-to-day management of around 140 terminal servers and I've started doing server builds and deployments as well

3) One of my primary hobbies is theoretical physics and cosmology

4) One of my other primary hobbies is tabletop RPGs including AD&D and HackMaster

5) I'm going to a con for that hobby in about a week and a half, and driving 7 hours each way to do so

6) Sometimes I make desicions in the form of mental IF/ENDIF and CASE statements

7) I started doing what I consider to be "serious" programming when I was 12 (it was in Assembler for Apple II and IIgs shortly after that)

8) I've dumped girls/women because I didn't think they were smart enough

I think the fact that you have a background in Nuclear Science, and have dumped women because they were not smart enough puts you in good shape to walk away victorious.

Were the women that you dumped really hot, but just dumb?

I'm a crappy geek.  Alls I got is a math degree and a bunch of fake internet friends.

I'd get dumped by Demo.

This thread is making me feel a lot better!
I'm nearly normal!

I can only use Photoshop, Flash, Office...
Windows... I could be called a junior systems administrator. I'm the one who stays in the establishment while the senior goes to his other job, the real one he does full time.
Linux... Still newbish I guess, because I can't fix nearly any problems without help. Love tinkering with it tho!
GIMP, paint, OOo...
General understanding of apps interface logic. So I'm not spilling loads of app names...

Pascal, C, VB (a bit I already forgot most of this), HTML, CSS... Understanding of programing logic...

I can build, detect errors and fix PCs...

The greatest geek might be the dude who built the Abacus for the first time! The first of all computacional artifacts I believe...
Or the dudes who thought ENIAC was a simple enough machine...

Some of them were.  Not all of them would really qualify as "dumb" per se, but it's difficult to relate to the normals for me sometimes, much less have a relationship with them.

And Detta, a math degree goes a long way where geekiness is concerned.  I'm married now, but I can honestly say I probably couldn't in good geekiness dump a math teacher.

Alls I got is a math degree and a bunch of fake internet friends.

As far as I know, I exist.

The others, on the other hand, may be an extension of a severe psychological disorder that causes you to write the replies of others and then forget.

If so, I would ask you to stop creating some of the stupid people that like to join.

Then perhaps she's talking about you in real life, relative to your online persona...

I think she is. I think when pbSaurus told her what I'm like in person, she was all like "oh my GOD! I'M NOT LISTENING LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA!"

When I read this, two responses came to mind. You get to pick which one you prefer and respond to that one:
  • Every girl I've ever tried to talk to responds like that...
  • Pshaw! Women!

Yeah well when you start off by saying "Well I just got out of prison for rape and I was wondering..."
