Chef Mattern. He wasn't actually a teacher. My college, since it was actually a trade school, had a mentor program that went into effect when you started your internship. Chef Mattern was my mentor, he taught me a lot about self-confidence and how to lose with dignity. He was also the Dean, and he would substitute teach any class, so he taught us on several occasions on several subjects (amazingly enough, he was fully qualified to teach all of them).

Who was your favourite teacher, and why?

Mr. Z, 10th and 11th grade English.  His last name sounded like Zerg-i-bell and I couldn't spell it if I wanted to.

He was just a very engaging teacher, we managed to cover a couple of Shakespeare plays each year and still did vocabulary test every week.  He gave us the words on the board on Monday, definitions and sentences due Wednesday, test on Friday.  Each test had a bonus question that had something to do with local town history.

Plus he gave out his home phone number and told people that if they needed a ride home from a party to call him.  He'd either get them or get them a cab.  A couple of people always took him up on it expecting him not to follow through but he always did.

My 10th grade math teacher. She was HOT! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5t5GukrWOU

As for the one that I learned the most from and was the best teacher, most likely my 11th grade physics teacher.

10th grade English teacher Mr. Williams. It was a lit class and we did all the required Shakespeare but he always managed to squeeze in a movie like Dead Poets Society and things like that to analyze.

For the life of me I cant remember the speech but it was from a pastor or preacher back in the witch hunt days. Williams had each student go to the front of the class and yell an exerpt from the speech out to the class. He would not let you sit down until he was satisfied that you gave as much passion as the original speaker did.

It was pretty funny watching the timid asian girls keep failing.

QOTD
Multiple choice

Smoke from a house fire while you sleep will:

a.) Stink, and irritate your nose, eyes, etc. and wake you in time to flee

b.) Put you in deeper sleep (closer to death) long before the acrid smoke starts to irritate; thus killing you in your sleep; never having been aware anything was happening

EXCELLENT!!!  :-D  :-D  :-D
I'm suprised ....wait. No I'm not. You guys are smrtr than the average bare... (Ive never heard the rest of that... bare what? Anyone know?)

It's a common myth / misconception that the nasty, acrid smoke will make you gag and cough; thus waking you in time to flee the flames. You cats are right on; it doesn't at all.
Another thing to remember; if you DO wake and smell smoke, DO NOT sit up in bed. Stay prone, and roll off the side to the floor. The difference in temperature between where your face is sleeping, and where you panick and sit up gasping or stand up out of bed can be enormous; the temperature can be hot enough where you sit up to sear your lungs on the first breath. That's GOTTA be the most awful way to go.
 So...don't sit up.
