Title: Greetings Geeks
Post by: CornNerd on August 03, 2011, 04:34:42 PM
Hey, everyone! My name is Mike (or CornNerd). I run a blog/community called Zombo (http://www.zombo.com). It's a place for geeks and nerds to connect and share their awesomeness. I'm mainly a gaming geek, but I also play a few instruments, enjoy drawing, and enjoy competitive physical activity. I look forward to getting to know you all, my fellow geeks. See you around!   :-D

If you created an account here to spam, you should probably know that's frowned upon here.

And if I didn't, that's not a very warm welcome.  :-(
No worries, though, I understand. Like I said, I'm here to meet some fellow geeks. If anyone happens to take an interest in my website, then that's just a plus.

It may come as a surprise to you, but people have come here exactly as you just have, and did so just to spam us.  In fact, I've never seen anyone like you that didn't.  So forgive me if I'm not exactly giving you a warm welcome.

So, to prove to me that you're not a spammer, you will refrain from linking to your website until you have reached a minimum of 100 posts here, and you will refrain from putting that link in your signature.

Put that link back in your signature one more time and I'll ban your account faster than you can complain about how you've been greeted.

Like I said, I didn't come here to spam, but it would please me if others did see my website and enjoy it. Isn't that one of the major portions of what the internet is about? Sharing links, images, videos, idea, etc.?

I'd really rather not remove any of the links, and wouldn't do it because I was ordered to. I'd much sooner be banned for such a trivial reason than comply because a hot-headed mod threatened me.

If these are indeed my last words on this forum, I just want to recommend that you treat others, potential spammers or not, with a bit more respect.

You don't have to remove the link, I removed it for you.

And I'm not being hot-headed.  If I had been, I would have banned you and removed your first post without bothering.

With regard to respect, it is expected that you respect the rules of our forum because it's a tight knit community and is more than welcoming to new members as long as they make an effort.

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt in case you are what you say you are, so I strongly suggest you read around first, get a feel for the lay of the land, and make an effort to become part of our community before you insist we check out your own.

So is CornNerd a play on words? Like, "help, they've got me cornnerd"? Or are you a scientist in the employ of big agro? Because if you are, I just want to say: "Cool it on the HFCS, mmmkay?"

Yes, it's a play on words, but I'm also a scienctist in the employ of big agro.

Not really though, it's just a play on words.
