Title: favourite Web Comics
Post by: Melvinkang on January 18, 2011, 01:28:57 PM
Ok I know there are comics fans on Geek Forum, what are you guy's favourite webcomics?

I'll start with a new favourite of mine.

I work for the marketing company that picked up a campaign for Falling Skies (http://2ndmass.com/), the webcomic done by Dark Horse in conjunction with TNT.  So far I like what I'm reading (I have been a comic fan since Claremon't run on X-men in the 80's).

The book itself, is written by longtime Dark Horse cohort, Mark Verheiden (Aliens Vs. Predator, My Name Is Bruce), the series storyboards the harrowing events of an alien invasion, which places Tom Mason, and his three sons, Hal, Ben and Matt in a struggle to survive as they fight back against the aliens.

It seems very interesting with characters that are just trying to do their best to get by in a rough, albeit sci fi situation. I really have enjoyed the issues that I have seen,

There is also a TV series that will take place after the webcomic, there is a good trailer out there on fanbolt:http://www.fanbolt.com/headline/10275/F (http://www.fanbolt.com/headline/10275/F)

That's my current favourite active webcomic, what about you guys?

Will it still be your favourite even after your marketing company fires you for not being able to construct valid URLs in your thinly veiled spam posts?

What I find REALLY impressive is how Melvinkang managed to make his introductory thread in the Newbies forum invisible.

It's not invisible.  It's here (http://www.geekforum.org/index.php/topic,6832.msg113749.html#msg113749).

He titled it "Yo".  Of course!

Great Boris Yeltsin.  That's from 2009!  I can't be bothered to go all the way back to 2009 for a rarely posting n00b!   :x

Lol.  I went looking b/c I saw that he had 7 posts but couldn't immediately find them.

Anyways, my favourite webcomic was miniwaankerbot.  But it's not around any more and I don't have time to read it if it was anyway.

My favourite web comic is Spiderman's lesser known sister, Spiderwoman.  She does a great stand up routine.

*keeps fingers crossed*

Just messin with ya too:)

But anyway I really do like this webcomic.  I have a copy of the first issue actually in front of me right now that I got at New York Comic Con, which was my true impetus in checking out the series.  Btw, the link works now:)

So the diary is a marketing campaign for the web comic, which is a marketing campaign for the TV show.

Wait... Your post is a marketing campaign for the diary, which is a marketing campaign for the web comic, which is a marketing campaign for the TV show.

Pretty thorough.

By the way, I liked the comic, and I'll probably watch the show.

Because I'm a sucker for things like that.

Like for example: last night I saw, for the first time, something called "The Walking Dead" on AMC. It was great! And then my son told me it's been on since last year!

HOW DID I MISS THAT?

From Wikipedia: The show's official website released, just prior to the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con International, a motion comic based on Issue #1 of the original comic and voiced by Phil LaMarr.  The site also posted a making-of documentary primarily about the first episode, as well as a number of other behind-the-scenes videos and interviews.

So you see, their marketing campaign was at best half-assed. What they really needed was a diary and a Geekery post.

To get to me, you'd need a shovel to the back of the head, accompanied by a steamroller.

The Perry Bible Fellowship is great.
Its consistently hilarious, and the man can draw in so many different styles. Its pretty dark humor, but there is nothing wrong with that.

Here are some of the SFW ones.
