Well yes, I am not particularly old. But I was reading novels at five. I meant it in that manner rather than a all round time line.

Just don't go claiming to be the only book nerd. I've been reading novels since most people learn their ABCs.

No, I'm cultured.

*runs*

Wow, cultured... I've never heard knowledge of Australia referred to that way. If anything I'd say you lose culture points.

8
Oh maaan! I love the Chasers. If it makes you think of it, do you hale from Australia? =D

I kind of feel like I am the only partly book-geek on this forum, but maybe with your arrival that will change.

Hahahaha. You're reading soap opera stories about rock stars. Once you read Asamov, Sagan, Dawkins, G R R Martin, Robin Hobb, Brett Weeks.... I don't know, any actual nerdy literature... Feel free to consider yourself among our ranks. Before then, you can wash your mouth out young man.

great, would be the word you're looking for there, but then again I doubt that was the word. Maybe you were looking for horrid. Or awful. Or vomitous.

Beauty and the Beast.

I feel a little dirty for dropping that film out of my top five. But Shaun Of The Dead slowly climbed up and stole it's place.
Also, Elizabeth, would you like a slice of gum?

I am just now working on the Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx. That's a *****ng awsome book

Yeah, I read that the year before last. He's pretty cool. I like the gritty autobiographies. But personally I find it to be quite pretentious based on how much he had. I've always liked more the stories of the rock stars like Sid Vicious. Who grew up in Heroin addict families and stuff like that. Hard case mental freaks. =p Nikki was just a rock star.

One last thing on this topic,

it is amazing how much windows costs- for one license for home use is 100s of dollars for an enterprise solution the company must spend 1000s of dollars on an os and then spend 1000s of dollars on an office program

I am just unwilling to waste my money like that when there are better free alternatives out there

You know, I've been using windows for years. Here in Australia we're very involved with our piracy. I've never spent a cent on a program that was not a video game, and that's just because I want to support the industry.
So if you look at windows as a free program, you can't bitch too loudly.

Best five films ever made.

It does count if we've read them before right? Because I've read blue bear like 5 times before. It's just such a freaking awesome novel.

Good news everybody! [/Farnsworth]
Water is receding! My mother is safe! Everything is hunky dory.
Still, it was a bit epic. I still don't have a job. =p
Also, there were apparently facebook groups** of things like "Event : Canoeing down Queenstreet!"
and there were sharks in the city! because our river is close enough to salt water that Bull Sharks live in it. So they were all chilling out on our main streets. Craaazy.

**I don't have a facebook account so it's all hearsay.

Yeah it is. Three out of four of the people that live in my house all now don't have jobs because they are under. The walkway out front of my restaurant has been torn off and floated down the river. It's pretty mad.

I have to say it's pretty mind blowing. As is I'm doing alright. I'm just scared for my mother and my ability to pay rent in the future with no source of income. =\

So! I come from the third largest city in Australia, and it is currently experiencing the biggest  natural disaster to ever hit the state.
This has resulted in a couple of awesome things, like I don't have a job any more, because it's totally under water. Here is a view of the street that is about a story higher than my works roof:

Here's a photo of several blocks from the river:

and here's a shot of a university campus and Ferris wheel:

Pretty fucking crazy!
Also nobody can get onto my mother, because where she lives is totally blocked off by flooded cause ways, the power is out, so are the phone lines and the cell tower.
Fucking scary shit.
