Was he in the hole to keep warm?

If so, was he surprised at how poorly his cover worked?

Wouldn't the cold be considered harm?

Going back to the last time I played, was cannibalism involved?

By "railroad-trestle" do you imply that there is a bridge?

If so, was it spanning a body of water?

Was it spanning a valley or ravine?

Edit: Never mind the train questions.

Because he was surprised, does that mean his death was slow?

Not if he was dressed for the cold, no.

I don't know if his surprise was indication of the rapidity of his death, but it was, in fact, a slow death.

Did the boy live with his parent/legal guardian?

Were the boy's *clothes* also frozen?

Were any other items found near the boy's body?

Was the body of water a river or a lake?

Was the body of water used for boating?

And if so:

Did the boy come from a boat?

Did he fall over board?

If he did fall, was it an accident?

Was the one of the other things found with his body a life preserver?

Did the boy get from the town to the spot of his death via the river?

Did the boy fall into the river on accident?

Was the boy forced (pushed or such) into the river?

Was there a search to try and find him?

Did the boy have a 2x4 sticking out of his ass because he was pretending to be a popsicle?

did the boy try to light a fire or do anything to warm up while in the hole (other than curling up)

Did the boy go in the hole willingly?

Was the boy standing on the ice at some point?

Was the boy alone?

Was he skating?

Was he skating with friends?

Was he skating on thin ice?

Did any of his friends fall in as well?

Not sure of the format for this, but:

The boy, while ice skating with his friends and/or family, fell through a hole in the ice and was swept downstream with the current. After coming to the shore, he found a hole to try and stay warm while waiting for people to find him.
Teh Story:
Young Steve and his younger brother Pete decided to skate on the creek that ran past their house.  Their plan was to skate to their aunt's house who also lived next to the stream, though some 15 miles away.  It had been quite cold for a long time and the ice seemed very safe.  And, in reality, it was safe until they reached the wooden railroad bridge.  The bridge's supports, being made of wood, warmed the nearby water making it very thin.  As the boys neared the bridge, Steve heard a crack and quickly skated off the ice.  Pete was not so lucky.  He fell through the ice, but came back up in the same hole.  Assisted by his older brother, Pete was able to get free of the mostly ice-covered water and crawl to the shore.  Steve was totally scared and not sure what to do. The one thing he did right was to trade clothes  with his younger brother, now turning very pale and blue.  They were able to trade coats and shirts, but not pants as Pete was considerably shorter than Steve.  They set out together to try to find shelter, but Pete was not able to skate.  He was too cold.  Steve told his brother to wait near the railroad bridge and "Don't go anywhere!" Steve set off to find help.  While he was gone Pete tried to hide from the wind.  The only place he could find was a small hole at the base of the bridge.  He curled up in a ball, lay down in the hole and pulled some leaves over himself.
By the time Steve returned with adults to help, Pete had lost consciousness and lay completely concealed in the hole.  They searched.  They searched up and down the banks of the creek.  They searched up-stream and down.  It wasn't until 9 hours later that a dog caught his scent and alerted adults to his location.

This story is based on a true event.  I am Pete in the story.  Though, I didn't pull any leaves over myself and my brother was able to find me, unconscious in the hole.  He had only been gone 40 minutes.  He saved my life.

I never talk to him any more.

I'm going to be honest, I was about to respond with a message about winning 4,355,002,001 Coolio Points, but that story made me sad when you said it really happened.  But I'm sort of over it now and am curious, why don't you talk to him anymore?  Shouldn't an experience like that create a very strong bond, one surpassing the normal relationships brothers typically have?  Unless there is something really holding you back from talking to him, call him up.

You'd think, wouldn't you?

Steve made some really poor decisions in the years following this event.  He was involved in a lot of petty crime and began smoking pot like it was his mission.  Today, he has the victim mentality that I so despise.  Because of this, he hasn't held down a job for more than a couple of years and spends more time between jobs than he spends working.  The world owes him... something.  I, on the other hand, owe him nothing.  I've never closed him out, it was his decision to stop communicating with the rest of the family.

He's welcome to ring my bell or call me up any time he wants to.  My number hasn't changed in 15 years, and he knows where I live.

Enjoy your Coolio Points!  I had to dust those off a bit... I hope they're all in good working order.
