Puzzle of the Week 2: Electric Boogaloo

Puzzle #2 (1/17/11)

Larry always tells lies during months that begin with vowels but always tells the truth during the other months.  During one particular month, Larry makes these two statements:

1.  I lied last month.

2.  I will lie again six months from now.

During what month did Larry make these statements?

I got many more responses this time!  Of course, you have till Friday.  I'm not sure if I'll be able to close it out on Friday or not so if I haven't feel free to PM me with answers until I do.  I gotta skip town.

Anyway, ivan was first again (and I like him the best) so he gets 25 puzzle points.

Novice gave two answers and then narrowed it down to the correct one so he would have gotten 20 but settles in at 15 puzzle points.

The other answers were incorrect although I'm kinda scared of someone coming at me with some flawless logic that will make me rethink the whole thing.  I mean...Demo's never wrong, is he??

edit:  p5ych0t3ch gets 5 puzzle points for getting it on the second try.


As it stands now:

ivan has 50 puzzle points.

Novice has 15 puzzle points.

Jaepheth has 15 puzzle points.

p5ych0t3ch has 5 puzzle points.

Don't be rattled, Detta.  I'm attacking the actual logic of the puzzle itself, rather than the direction I'm supposed to be going.   8-)

Jaepheth and TheJudge both get 15 for a correct answer.

Still working on what Demo gets.  Either a bunch of points, or a kick in the ass.  We'll see.

Sorry about that.

The answer was supposed to be August.  Because he's lying when he makes the statements.  Anyone who said August got points.



However.  Demo pointed out to me that since he's lying, you can't trust anything he says.  The opposite of "I lied last month", isn't "I told the truth last month".  It's "I didn't lie last month".  That means he could have lied two months ago, three months ago, or told the truth last month, whatever.  So the whole puzzle actually explodes and the answer can be April, August or October.  Demo gets 25 points for blowing up the puzzle.  DEN!! I take away 5 points b/c when he did the puzzle the way it was supposed to be done, he actually gave the wrong answer.
