WOOHOO! Bush Nominates Zealot
« on: October 06, 2005, 06:17:07 PM »

So, I've just got to ask what you guys think about the new nominee for SCOTUS.  I've got various question for you guys, answer all of them or none of them or whichever ones interest you.  Here they are, in no particular order.

1. Do you think this is cronyism?
2. Do you think she is a religious zealot?
3. Do you think she is underqualified?
    3a. If so, why?

The jury is still out.  I'll wait and see what the various interest groups dig up on her.

My gut instinct would say
1.  Probably
2.  Probably
3.  Possibly
3a.  Because I don't know of any constitutional law experience on litigator side or jurist side.

1. Yes.
2. No.
3. Yes
3a. I think that if somebody is supposed to sit as a judge on the Supreme court, then they should have at least BEEN a judge at one poin in their life.

...and the zealot has bowed out.  Bush blamed the politicians for forcing the issue.

The next SC justice will be determined by the extreme right. The President has no say in this.

And they will play it off as saying that Bush is staying true to his base.  Hell, Rush is already playing that tune.

It would sure simplify things if Rush would just take over as President. Cut out the middleman.

I agree.

Geddy Lee would make a much better president.  Alex Lifeson would make a decent VP, too.

What's that matter?  Bush is a Texan, and he can be president.  Why not Canadians?  They're more American than any Texan could be...

You have to admit though, when the guy running against you (Bush) has a campaign slogan that says "At least I'm not Bush", and he almost wins, that's a pretty big blow to your ego.

Has anyone read the book "What's Wrong With Kansas?"?

Maybe if he wasn't "Bush lite", he would have done better.

I don't know if he would've done well as president anyway, but it's still kind of funny to think about.
