Title: Fucking South Dakota
Post by: Vespertine on February 24, 2006, 11:12:16 PM
So I'm thinking of writing an article that expands on my can of worms thread.  Some of the things I'm thinking of addressing are:
If abortion is banned...
...increased rates of child abuse (because of pissed off and resentful women (and men))
...increased number of people on welfare
...increased suicide rates
...increased mortality (and serious injury) rates due to back-alley and do-it-yourself abortions
...increased high school dropout rates
...increased false reports of rape
...potential increases in rates of retardation

First question, is it worth the time to even write this article?  Second question, if it is worth the time, is there anything else you guys can think of?

If you have something to say, then it's always worth the time to write about it!

I agree.  You have plenty to say, and I for one think you say it well.

Are you saying that I'm too opinionated?  That I talk too much?  After everything I've given you, this is how you repay me?  Heartless bastard!  [/oversensitive]

For real, thanks.  It's nice to hear that.

About the second question, can you guys think of anything else that should be added to that list?

Poverty.

As you said, the likelihood of dropping out of school is dramatically increased when a girl has a baby. This will only help push her and her newborn into poverty, if they aren't already there.

Looking forward to it.  Don't forget how forcing women into pregnancy will remove the bottom rungs from the socio-economic ladder and as we all know, pregnant women can't jump that high so there's no way they can reach the first rung.  Don't forget to mention strains to various infrastructures--education, medical, the already huge prison system (of course I assume here that most of the births will be of lower socio-economic status).

Don't forget to mention that when women are second-class citizens, all the men who want it to stay that way will vote as a block and elect a regressive idiot for president who will ensure our highest courts are populated by regressive...

waitaminute...

I never got that.

In Ireland, women do great in politics, because we men realized that it just means them in government means we don't have to do it - more time for drinking and smoking and poker.

More babies means more prams. More workers at the pram factory. Increase in salaries and the purchase of commodities. Especially alcohol. More drunk people = more casual sex. More babies.

This thread, which wasn't very popular or active back in 2006, didn't need to be resurrected.  Please refrain from bringing up old threads.
