Title: Drama of the Cinema
Post by: Kachi-san on October 15, 2009, 09:14:52 PM
(A/N: This is just a small bit of the beginning.)

It seemed all good and fun until that fateful night. The place? A nice movie theater in the busy part of town. Who? The friendly employees of the small establishment. When? Well, that would be before the fateful night. Otherwise their wouldn't be much of a story.

A typical Sunday night after 8:30 p.m. No new customers and most of the theaters emptying into the lobby then out to the dark parking lot. A few people trickle in to see a later movie around late nine o’ clock. Ushers dart to and fro going theater to theater cleaning up all the mess left behind. They occasionally stop to chat to coworkers on their little time out of the dark movie rooms. Two or three people work behind concession during the day but at night there is only one worker and one shift lead. Most of the time there is two people in the box office but on slow nights such as this certain Sunday there would be just one. There they stand all alone waiting for someone to come up and ask for a movie ticket. At least in Box you can organize and clean things around you. You must get your cash register all squared away and vacuum the carpet. Out of all the positions at Super Star Cinemas the worst was Door. You stood behind a wooden box on wheels, tore tickets, and directed people to where their movie was playing.

You just stood there waiting for someone, anyone to come over and speak to you. You would beg with your eyes for ushers to come over and start a small conversation or at least say hi. There is one good thing about being on Door. You are almost invisible to everyone else and you can watch your coworkers interact. That's where I come in.

Yeah, I usually come in through the door as well. Getting in through the window can be a real bitch sometimes.

What's that word...when you give human characteristics...to inanimate objects?  Like...ification of person?

Possibly might be.  I'm not quite sure though.  Ask me earlier.
