NEW YORK (AP) - Isaac Hayes has quit South Park, where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion.

Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed. "There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said.

"Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honoured," he continued. "As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."

South Park co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview Monday, saying, "This is 100 per cent having to do with his faith of Scientology. . . He has no problem - and he's cashed plenty of cheques - with our show making fun of Christians."

Last November, South Park targeted the Church of Scientology and its celebrity followers, including actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta, in a top-rated episode called Trapped in the Closet. In the episode, Stan, one of the show's four mischievous fourth graders, is hailed as a reluctant saviour by Scientology leaders, while a cartoon Cruise locks himself in a closet and won't come out.

Stone said he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

Why is animal cloning ok, but human cloning not? We origin from animals. We are merely an higher species, but if you have the ethics to clone an animal, what makes a human being different?

I never said animal cloning was ok. I was responding to the question of humans.
Animals though...that's a big blank full of hypocricy for me. Guess it boils down to where you stand on animal rights and equality. I don't think there's any point in tryin to clone animals really, especially if cloning them is preparing scientists for a further unethical practice.

so far the animals that have been cloned, haven't they died early or had some sort of disease, as a result or not, i dunno.
we aren't animals obviously so we dont know if the same would happen to humans.  but would it be ethical though to try it even? "it might turn out norrmal or it might have a serious malformation or disease", what then, kill it?
for that reason i dont think human embyos should be cloned.  i think it's unethical to even try.

food on the other hand im ok with.

Women have longer fingernails though and they get caught in the  back of your throat and you try and do the tongue move too reach back there and get it.  And lets not talk about the hair.  You go to the can the next day and think "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!"

I had one, Xena...a little teddy bear hamster.  Cute.  She had a hamster condo too, complete with a piece of wood, rocks, and other structures in a large box(she never chewed through the ccorners as I had rocks in them). and my cat never attempted to jump in there.
