Note, the theory I'm about to propose requires a Linux LiveCD or LiveDVD. Both work just as well.

Now, I think right when i mentioned that, you guys already knew what I'm going to talk about. I'll talk about it anyway. :P Well, to get right into it, whenever I get some malware in my system, the first thing I do is to find the basic name of it. Once I've found that, I, then, restart my computer off a LiveCD or DVD. (I use knoppix) I find that if I can locate the virus' main files in my Hard Drive, I can delete them in the Linux environment so when I boot Windows back up, they will be totally disabled. From there it's just a matter of mopping up the left over garbage.

I have tried this before with some famous malware such as WinAntiVirus 2010. It worked perfectly. The only problem with this method is finding out where the main files are. What do you guys think?

Entertainment / Best Way to Find A Song's Name
« on: July 01, 2010, 01:01:39 AM »
Have you ever heard a song on the radio and they don't say the name of the song when it's finished and you have no idea what the name of it was? Not anymore. The best way to find a song's name is first:

1. Note down any major lyrics (words or phrases that are, ideally, repeated) of the song that you remember from it. It's best if you write some of the lyrics down on a piece of paper or your phone's notepad at the time of the listening.

2. Go to google and type in lyrics, the word, first then a space followed by quotes. What you put in the quotes is any of the major lyrics that you remember from the song. Separate different parts of the lyrics by more quotes.

For example, I'm going to look for the name of the song, Closing Time by SemiSonic or whatever.

We note down any notable lyrics.

"time to go out to the places you will be from"
"gather up your jackets"
"i know who i want to take me home"

Next, google. We'll just use two parts of our gathered lyrics.

Exact search terms: lyrics "gather up your jackets" "i know who i want to take me home"

Boom, first search result tells you exactly what the song is.

Happy findings.

Entertainment / The Most Awesome Sci-Fi Technology/Structure
« on: May 29, 2010, 12:03:55 AM »
What do you think is the coolest technology or structure that you have seen in any Video Game, Book, or Movie? Just post the the name of it, what it does and where it originates.

Here's my vote to start with.

The Halo Rings
Media: Halo Series
Description: The Halos are mysterious ring-worlds that have the capability to wipe out all life in a given radius. (25,000 light years, according the Wikipedia) But once the other installations receive the pulse, they, too, will activate causing all of the galaxy to be devoid of any life.

Political Opinions / 2 Sides...
« on: April 06, 2010, 09:32:54 PM »
Whenever I see a topic or news article or what have you on government or business actions and/or regulations, I always seem to see 2 major sides of the issue.

First, you have the governments/businesses side of the story saying how what they're doing actually makes common sense and that we need this regulation or rule or that the judgment passed on a criminal is just.

But then, when I see people's opinions on other such forums, on the topics discussed above, the opinons and arguments are opposite. The government is trying to control our lives and that we shouldn't be such tools listening to them and join the right side.

But which side should one take? Most of the time, both present compelling and convincing arguments and it's hard to choose on which side to take.

But what do you guys think of all this?

Has anyone read this book?
http://www.amazon.com/War-Soldiers-Survivors-Storytellers/dp/0763642312/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268950368&sr=8-1

While it is not necessarily a book, It is a war anthology. The selections in here, however, are very great though.

Go to run, type: cmd

In the prompt type: at (specify time in military format when you want the new command prompt to appear without parentheses of course) /interactive cmd.exe

Wait a minute for the time you specified in step 2 to come around

Close the old prompt

Open the task manager

End the process: explorer.exe

Close manager and type in new prompt: explorer

SYSTEM user is now accessed. You can close the prompt if you want now

To end this, simply go to the task manager and end the process: explorer.exe again.

Close it and then go to the task manager again

Go to new task in the file drop down menu and type: explorer

You will now be logged back in to your previous username. You will have to put your original wallpaper back on though I think.

Entertainment / Star Wars 1 through 3
« on: December 24, 2009, 12:44:23 AM »
Why is it that every time I here about star wars 1-3 it is about how they sucked compared to 4-6? Personally, I thought that episodes 1-3 were a lot better compared to 4-6. Am I the only person on the earth who thought 1-3 was better?

Anarchy / Funny pokemon story(s)/rant
« on: December 20, 2009, 06:31:35 PM »
So I resurrected my GBC and Pokemon gold back from the dead. :-D Anyway, it starts with me trying to catch ho-oh with a level 20ish eggsexcute with hypnosis whatever and a feraligatr at level 50ish. I have 2 ultra balls and I thought that I wouldn't need anymore then that. I thought, yeah, I'll just weaken ho-oh to about 10-5 percent health and throw my ballz at em'. Wrong. This mother breaks out of ultra balls like nobody's business. I even put that fag to sleep and THEN took his health down to 10-5 percent and threw a ball at him WHILE he was asleep. Every time, he breaks out of both my ballz first chance he gets. Not even kidding. How is that possible?!! So I sat on my bed for at least 2 1/2 hours just trying to capture him. I finally had to push myself and buy 15 more ultra balls midway through the ordeal. Then finally, I was starting to get really hungry and I said to myself "If I don't get it this next time then I'm dropping this and eating." So I reset my GBC for the umpteenth time and started it all over again. I weaken him down, put him to sleep, throw some ultra balls at him like crazy again, he's being a douchebag, and then just completely randomly, I catch him. It took me at least 20+ times of resetting my GBC and doing the battle all over again just to catch that retard. Weird Tingly Feeling?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? Even the legendary birds in red/blue/yellow were never this hard to catch.

Do you have any funny stories or complaints about the pokemon games? If so then this is the thread to put them in.
