Within the last month, how much computer componets have you purchased online or otherwise?

Just the other day I got four things in the mail from Newegg.com. I got a Western Digital 80 gig 7200 RPM with 8MB of Cache, two Vantec 80mm Tornado fans, and one fan bus to control one fan along with some others.

If you ever think about getting those types of fans for your system, they are not for people who are light sleepers that have their computer in the same room they sleep in. Trust me, these things are LOUD. I probably should have gotten another fan bus for the other set of fans. They do, as the name suggests, move a ton of air for something that is only 8cm accross.

More recently I purchased a TV tuner card for my computer. After getting everything installed and worked out, it was a pretty good investment for 25 dollars. Complete with the remote and FM antenna - you can't go wrong. Recording would be an option, had the compression not been so bad (A 30 second clip takes up about 300 megs of space). I now have yet another reason not to leave my computer.

Last thing I bought was a sound card like a month ago or so. SB Live!

Before that, I upgraded my PC with a new board, CPU, Ram and video Card.

Before that, It was the original purchase. A l337 PII.

So I rarely change my hardware. The only time I upgrade is if I want to play a game and can't. And I don't play that many games anymore.

You're lucky Judge, you get to choose when you upgrade most of your hardware. I got stuck with a broken 16 port switch the other night, I honestly didn't think the power going out would mess it up. It was even connected to a surge protector.

Oh, and pseudo, if those didn't cost so damn much I would have to have one. Pricing of them are still pretty expensive. I saw one on Newegg.com for about 1k for a 21 inch, I believe

I almost bought it yesterday. I stood there for a good 20 mins deciding. Thought I'd try to find a better price. She is a sexy girl.

They're way better than traditional monitors I think. They take up less space, use up less energy, and give off less heat, which is always a plus for me. The only problem is they are a bit costly. If I had more money, I would do it, but since I'm in the market for buying a car, I'm going to need most of that money.

I'm waiting for the superior, cheaper-to-produce alternative that's going to make LCDs completely obsolete.

In the last month, nada. But I did return an 80GB Seagate HDD that was failing.

I need a new monitor. Now I'm having wet dreams about that flat-panel.

Nothing in the past month.    I got my computer at the begining of August, so I really don't need anything new.

Well, my Grandpa bought it for me.   The Sony Vaio PCG-FRV23 notebook, bought almost on impluse.    He was buying my sister a TV for her birthday, and I was looking at the Laptops, and he's like "Is that what you want?" and my reply was "Yeah, Kinda." and he turns to the salesman and tells him we'll take one.   It was the best moment of my life.

I've been very pleased with it.   A few weeks later I bought a Linksys router and wireless card, which I haven't been as pleased with.

Hm, I bought a tablet, too, but I returned it, because it isn't really pracitcal for a laptop.

what she said.

My last purchase was back in May. I bought a RF remote for my computer. Works anywhere in my house- I love it.

However, I will not buy an LCD monitor anytime soon, on the basis of frames per second. An LCD monitor can't refresh as quickly as a CRT, which makes it less consistent for any kind of gaming. I don't do a lot of gaming, but enough to make it important to see what I'm doing.

Last week I bought the better half a new digital camera.  The Olympus, that was I think four years old, gave up the ghost a couple of months ago.  The old one was 640 x 480 but was a great camera for its time.  I started to go back to Olympus but instead decided on the Fugi Finepix A210 along with a 128 MB xd-picture card.  Works great so far.  Had a karaoke party here saturday a week ago and took 66 shots in 3.2 Mp mode and still could have taken almost as many more.

Demo what type card did the Olympus you bought your wife use?  It seems that only the fuji and olympus take the xd card.  I tried researching them but didn't find a whole lot.  Except that it is a whole lot faster than the older smartmedia they are phasing out.

That was my single biggest concern, until I read a bunch of user reviews that all but dismissed "ghosting" with that model. One said he had no ghosting problems with Unreal Tournament, which is a game I play often and had in mind when worrying about it in the first place. That alone sold me.

The only component I have bought recently was a webcam, but I haven't even taken it out of its box...

It uses smartmedia cards.  It works pretty slick, particularly with our ImageTank portable 30gig hard drive with a built-in smartmedia card reader and rechargable battery.  That's what we took with us on our trip to Scotland.

Whenever the smartmedia card was filled up (it was a 256mb card), we just popped it into the reader on the ImageTank, which created a folder and dumped the images onto the hard drive, then we put the card back in the camera and deleted everything off of it and we could take more pics.

Plus, the ImageTank is just USB, and it's a regular hard drive, so we use it for transferring large amounts of data around too.

Best $249 we ever spent.

BTW, nice avatar, law!  :)
