USAToday's Poll on Gay Marriage Amendment
« on: February 26, 2004, 09:12:10 AM »

I'm sure you guys have had it up to here with this issue.

I just found it interesting that over 90% of those that have been polled are against a gay marriage amendment.

Making bigotry law of the land wouldn't go over too well, I'd think.

We tried telling people how to live their lives 'morally' before with the whole "Ok, nobody can drink booze anymore" amendment and look how well that one went over.

USAToday's Poll on Gay Marriage Amendment
« Reply #2 on: February 26, 2004, 12:59:31 PM »

I have found it an interesting exercise to replace the words "gay marriage" and "same-sex marriage" and "men and women" with "interracial marriage" and "white people" whenever reading any articles on the subject now, or listening to such stories on the news.

It makes the issue quite clear when looked at from that perspective.

For example, this quote from Bush:
Before:
Quote
"Now, when somebody makes it my business, like on gay marriage, I’m going to stand up and say I don’t support gay marriage. I support marriage between men and women."

After:
Quote
"Now, when somebody makes it my business, like on interracial marriage, I’m going to stand up and say I don’t support interracial marriage. I support marriage between white people."

Bigotry is bigotry.

I love polls that are designed to get the result the pollster was looking for...

A) Gay marriages
B) Nun beatings

Pick one.

By "nun beatings", do you mean getting beatings being administered by a nun?

Because in that case, this may be a tough choice for some particularly warped individuals....

Nun being beaten, of course. Sorry, but I feel it is my duty to post this horrible link. Enjoy.

ROFL!!!!

The way some conservatives are approaching the issue, you'd almost think that that's what they are expecting to happen.

I'm pretty sure they don't allow homosexual marriage either. They're Christian.

It's a precedent for regulation of who can marry whom.
On religious grounds no less.
Would you like me to spell it out for you?

Please do.

And remember to frame your answer in the form of a constitutional question.

Yes smartass, please do. Explain how regulation on non-citizens has anything to do with Amending the US constitution. Remember, I have spent the last five years studying constitutional law, so try and keep it at an educational level.

I hoard rights in a large pile which I then sell back to the unaware at inflated prices.
