As long as you don't do anything completly stupid, you should be ok. It's the constant "I saw this movie today, it made me laugh" type of posts that get me mad.

Oh yea, and the fact that they have too many moderators.

I've seen some of the mods there change what people say to make themselves look better.

I got into a "flame war" with one of them and they decided to change what I had put because they probably were running out of options. That's the only reason that I could think of as to why one of them would do that.

I'd never do that crap here, it's a good way to make a lot of the members mad for not "playing fair".

You know what to do then... you left anyway, so why not go out "strong" and start putting some gay porn up instead of posts like "lol..."

Be sure to take some before and after screen shots if you're going to do that of course. We'd all love to see them.

[/i]I do that over at HN, but only to trolls, and only to be funny. I usually edit their posts to say something like "Incest rulez ppl! Here is a pic of me and my mom doin the NASTY!"

And then I'll put a "Image removed by moderator (NSFW)" to account for the fact that the post will automatically be marked as "edited by" me. Usually then I'll make a separate post saying something like "Dude, I'm warning you, no more posting of sick pics like that of you and your mom."

Normally they'll say something like "but I didn't post anything. You edited my post", which I will edit to say something like "You asshole! I'll just post that pic AGAIN" along with another "Image removed by moderator (NSFW)" add-on, to make it look like they're fighting with me to try and show this pic of them having sex with their mom to the world, and I just won't let 'em. Heh heh.

I usually find that uproariously funny. Most trolls don't though. Oh well. I guess a sense of humor isn't required to be a stupid forum troll. It just makes them easier to make fun of then.

I wasn't trolling or anything. Far from that.

This was a normal thread that "went bad" and turned into a "flame war". The moderator was my "target" and he decided to change some of the stuff I said since he ran out of ideas.

It would have been different had I trolled. But I didn't.

Still, they have way too many moderators for that many people. The Hard Forums has less moderators and they have so many more people posting at one time it's not even funny.

Once or twice I've somehow managed to piss off one or more of the FARK moderators and discovered all the posts I've made in a particular thread have been deleted.... which is a shame, because some of the FARK mods are pretty nice people (Mme.Mersault most of all).

I have yet to have any inkling what I might have done to deserve such treatment the couple of times that happened, but some of the FARK mods are just pricks who like to delete stuff at random too... If I moderated on HN like that, I don't think anyone would stick around.

chris - teh [h]ardforums don't need moderator because if you are a script kiddie or a homie and you go there you will get flamed so bad, worse than anything a mod could do... also only about 10% of the people online post...

Well, hob, you still sometimes need someone to "take out the trash" and get rid of people that somehow just can't take a hint. It doesn't happen very often in the grand scheme of things, but there is still the occasional idiot that is banned at HN that if it weren't for mods, they'd still be there, pissing off the regulars and being a general nuisance.

Plus, it serves to really piss some of them off, to the point where they'll keep trying to come back (until their IP's are banned as well) and then they go over to another board and rant and rave and whine about how everyone is so mean to them and stuff.

It's good entertainment. Some forums need a gentle bit of moderating to keep them fun and not just a bunch of trolls and kiddies screaming at each other.

Is that like a brand new forum or something? Nobody seems to have more than 100 posts or so on it... and their discussions seem pretty lame.

You know, the more forums I see, the more I can appreciate HN and tEH gEEKERY as good boards to hang around on. Most people and their forums simply suck by comparison...
