Can anyone direct me to something along the lines of "binary for dummies"? I'm looking to learn.

I didn't mean decimal to binary. Although thank you, BizB. I meant English to binary.

Ok.  So you're looking for an ASCII to Binary tutorial?

Here you go.
Each letter in the English language is represented in the ASCII chart as a numeric value between 65 for the upper case "A" and continuing through 122 for the lower case "z".  The other characters are also represented by numeric values as well.  If you bother to do a simple fucking search, I'm sure you can find a chart that will show you the values of all of the characters in dec, octal, hex, and even binary.  I like to start my searches with a phrase that I might use if I were going to write about something.  For example, if I wanted to find an article on people who are too lazy to do their own research, I might use the phrase, "Twizted is a lazy bag of" because that's how I would start my article if I was writing on the topic.  Of course, you're looking for an "ASCII Values Chart" so you'll probably want to start with something a little less personal.  Just a thought.

Binary values are represented in 8-bit format.

To represent the letter "A" in binary, you would simply present the value for 65, 01000001 being that value.

Code: [Select]
bit 128 | bit 64 | bit 32 | bit 16| bit 8 | bit 4 | bit 2 | bit 1
    0       1        0      0        0        0        0       1
To represent the lower case "a" you'd present the value 97 in binary, 01100001 being that value.
Or, alternatively, you could use the upper case value + 32 (the difference between lower and upper case.)  That might be represented by. (01000001 + 00100000).  But that's a bit more typing, now isn't it?

01001001 00100000 01110011 01110101 01110010 01100101 00100000 01101000 01101111 01110000
01100101 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01110101 01101110 01100100 01100101
01110010 01110011 01110100 01101111 01101111 01100100 00100000 01100001 01101100 01101100
00100000 01110100 01101000 01100001 01110100

I'm guessing you really aren't wanting to learn anything, you just want a translator so you can wow people with binary sentences in your posts because that appears to be so much more inteelekchewall, amirite? "They" have those.

in binary:

I'm looking for a single paradigm shift, base 4 preferred but not necessary.
