Robert Silverberg's "Majipoor Chronicles"

That is one series I've never gotten around to reading.  I've read a series of articles on how he created the world but never the books themselves.  I've got to make a point to pick those up.

They have been in Asimov's the last few months, looks like the first two are online

http://www.asimovs.com/_issue_0910_11/ref.shtml

Part 3 just arrived the mail a few days ago and I didn't see it online.  He references several books and essays to help you build convincing worlds that I am thinking about reading.

Cool, thanks.  Worldbuilding is one of the chief reasons I've always been attracted to GMing when it comes to tabletop roleplaying games.  It's always enlightening to look at "the bones boiled to make the soup", as Tolkien so aptly put it.

Basically all of Neil Gaiman's stuff.

Demo, I always had you figured as a bit high brow for Piers Anthony.

Cherubim is plural; Genesis 3:24 specifies one flaming sword. Presumably flaming swords were in short supply."

I read the first 7 or 8 Xanth books when I was a kid and loved them, but lost interest in the series at that point.  What are there now, 30 of them?

I still think his "Incarnations of Immortality" series is his best work.

Miss Karina, you skipped the introduction step.  There is a forum conveniently dedicated to just this.  It is my advice that you refer to the registration instructions before the senior members of this forum eat you.  Newbie with ketchup is a dietary staple around here.  Well, to be honest, ketchup is a personal preference of mine, idk what the others like.

-edit-
I haven't read anything by Charlotte Bronte though she's been recommended before.  Personally, I'm a stickler for convincing characters but interesting writing style and setting can keep me even if I don't like characters. What specifically did you like about Jane Eyre?

I don't really think anyone cares what you think.  You obviously can't read.

Don't encourage this person.  Given the links that were in its signature, they're almost certainly merely a forum spammer and nothing more.

Jane Eyre? We're getting a higher class of spammers.

For the most part I'll leave future newbies alone since I have no discerning taste when it comes to who would be good for the forum and who wouldn't.
And ketchup goes well with bacon even when picking out tap shoes with a fork.
