Have any of you ever read this? I just finished it last night. The 9th circle was epic

I read the Divine Comedy, years and years ago now.  I thought it was a pretty good read, if a bit demented.  I should give it another look.  It's probably been 20+ years since I set eyes on it.

I read The Divine Comedy a year or two ago.

Well, I should say I read The Inferno, because I gave up on the other 2 books. Hell is so much more interesting than the nicer places.

Also I should say I listened to it rather than read it, so I didn't have the advantage of annotations. Apparently, a lot of the hapless denizens of The Inferno were sly caricatures of celebrities of the time.

There are a few excellent Dante sites, but the ELF site is best, I think. You can read TDC with the original Italian and English side-by-side, and even choose between 2 English translations (not to mention various other languages):

Divine comedy?  Isn't that what John Waters specializes in?

Apparently, he writes like H.G. Wells.

(Though this could change depending who the translator of the story was).

Ok.  Now someone needs to rewrite "Clerks" as if Dante Alighieri wrote it...

Nice!  So it would be in Italian with English subtitles.

The Divine Comedy is my favourite piece of classic lit. Seriously, the fact that in a very religious world, that Dante Aligherti wasnt hung for his portrayal of hell. However, its truly an epic love story. I can only say that I wish I could do that for a girl.

However, I've played DI twice through, to pickup the Xbox Achivements I missed the first play through. I loved it, it was incredible, the sheer amount of translation from story, to violent laced gameplay.

I still shudder at lust. Tounge nipples that shoot dead babies. So sexy.

....I didnt say that.

I am afraid I haven’t read this one Must try and read it though I don’t much care for the theme I enjoy books with a lighter theme though I know that tastes differ There has been a few books mentioned here and I am sure that they are all good in their own right and will try to have a look at them sometime In the meantime, hope to read more of such topics here again
