Title: 2008 Best Picture Marathon
Post by: BizB on February 26, 2008, 02:01:57 PM
Saturday, I attended the AMC Theaters Best Picture Marathon (http://www.amctheatres.com/promos/showcase/).  Here's my take on it...

Best Picture Nominees Review:
Michael Clayton:
Ok story.  Weird Tingly Feeling with the bathroom sweaty armpit?  Hate disjointed time-lines.

There Will Be Blood:
Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot. OMG Al Pacino!  The end.

Atonement:
Awww.  That sucks. What a mean little girl. Time-line Weird Tingly Feeling?  That ruined it for me.

Juno:
Cute.  Out of its league as a nominee.

No Country for Old Men:
Wow.  That was awesome.  I'm glad it won.

Now for my review of the AMC Theaters Best Picture Marathon (http://www.amctheatres.com/promos/showcase/):
Imagine flying from San Francisco to Sydney Australia on Southwest Airlines (except the food is better on the airline) and watching 2 good movies and 3 ok movies.

Sounds absolutely exhausting.

Do you have jet lag?

Did you at least get up and walk around the cabin to avoid edema?

There were approximately 20 minutes between each movie until the last two.  Between Juno and No Country, there was a 45 minute break.  We walked as far as the concession stand and the bathrooms during the 20 minute break.  At the last break, we walked across the parking lot to the mall and got some McDonalds and some coffee.

Surprisingly, they let us take the McD's into the theater.

I cant honestly say that I will see any of them. Michel Clayton and Juno seem interesting, but I'm tired of this "OMGWTF you havent seen No Country for Old men?!?!?!" I'm getting at school and it has totally turned me off from wanting to see it.

Juno was pretty funny, haven't seen No Country but it looks awesome. Michael Clayton had one of the lamest trailers I've ever seen, but I haven't seen it so I can't judge.

This sounds like some kind of gay porno. If it is, someone better notify Lacerda.

I saw Juno....it was cute, even funny at times, but a lot pretentious.
