The Pope has some really really really selective memory!!
« on: November 30, 2007, 02:46:42 PM »

I think he's lost his mind!

He's claiming that modern day atheism "has led to the greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice".  Are you f-ing kidding me??!!!!??  :-o

Has he forgotten the staggering number of "infractions" that have been committed in the name of God?

Yeah, he messed up big time there. He obviously meant Islam.

*runs like hell*

Seriously, though, what did you really expect? I don't think the Pope is going to be cheerleading for Atheists. Nobody takes him seriously anyways. We all know he's just a temp.

For starters, he does have to worry about job security.

I can sorta see where he's coming from, given that Marxist-Leninism/Maoism did actually contribute to some of the greatest cruelty and injustice of the modern age, and Marxist-Leninism/Maoism are inherently atheistic, but whether atheism is a primary driver of that or merely along for the ride is an entirely different question.

It is also true that many people think Hitler was atheist, in fact he was not.  He was more a quasi-pagan spiritualist, for lack of a better term.

Still, that doesn't invalidate the argument that atrocities have also been committed in the name of $deity (including his own), and in larger numbers.

Hitler had a huge interest in the occult. I know this to be a fact because one time I watched half of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I think the real point about this issue is that organized religion CONTINUES to be used to murder and mutilate people to this day, while militant atheists are just annoying.

So... the obvious solution is for atheists to unite and start killing non-atheists in the name of nothing.  Right?

My spiritual adviser told me Dawkins et. company already do that.
And he's never wrong.

He has most certainly forgotten those committed by his own organization (inquisition, etc.).

Either way it's clear that atheists will never win because they don't have God on their side and they're too busy jacking off mules (because they have no morals) to ever put up a good fight.

It's true, it's not like we've got the American Jesus on our side or anything.

Hitler was also a vegetarian and a painter. Point being that I don't think one characteristic (including religion) can describe how a person lives his or her life or if they decide to do something horrible. At least on an individual basis.

In the words of Eddie Izzard (about Hitler) "I cant... get... ze fucking... tree.. DAMN! I will kill everyone!"

Eddie is hilarious. Also, the vegetarianism has to do more with his fucked up health (that's what years of amphetamines and syphilis will do to a guy) than any humanitarian qualities on the part of der fuhrer.

I always thought vegetarians are an evil lot set on world domination, and now you can see it too.

Don't even get me started on painters...

Hitler before the west demonized him.

Yeah, my whole point was about the hypocrisy of that guy.  Ignoring all other religions for the moment, the Catholic church alone has killed (or is responsible for killing (or is responsible for sitting idly by and not speaking out when others were doing the killing)) millions upon millions of people over the years.  I don't recall atheists ever doing something like this.

That's because atheists are way better at covering things up...they are so sneaky and evil.

Absolutely.

What with their concerted agenda with rules and meetings and such ... that and their undercover army of Crusaders.

The atheist agenda is and has always been to flood youtube with hundreds of stupid vloggers who suddenly get subscribers for pissing off the Muslims.
