I read the title and finished the line with  "Gonna eat me a lot of peaches."

It'll be a while before that song gets out of my head

I would agree with the concept of leaving marriage for the churches if it weren't for the tax breaks, medical power of attorney, insurance benefits, and whatever else legal mumbo jumbo benefits that you get out of being married.  Who doesn't want all that?  If I want my roommate to have health insurance and to be able to see me in the hospital when I've been in a car wreck, why not?  There are also consequences of divorce (alimony, child custody whatnot, half your crap becomes their crap, etc), so it's not like I'm going to go jumping into marriage either (let alone jumping out and then back in repeatedly).  It's not like there's going to be fire and brimstone because people can marry who they want.  Total marriage chaos, oh no!  Benefits running rampant, tax breaks flooding the cities!

Hey! The more you bring over, the more free stuff you get.  I had a friend in grade school who immigrated over from Russia.  She has seven brothers and sisters and the government gave her family a free house and two cars.  I probably won't even be able to get that with a Bachelor's degree.

I'm not going off on a personal tangent...not at all...

I'm reading "Written on the Body" by Jeanette Winterson.  Pretty interesting so far.

I'd prefer 4 10 hour days.  I can't see the appeal of a 12 hour day and a day off.  It doesn't seem like you could really relax.

Umm...go green party?

There is a difference between creepy and violent and just plain insane.  Stephen King barely touches the icing.  I'm a creative writing major as well, and I've had a professor invite a psychologist into class because she was concerned about student welfare.  Professors should be aware of those sorts of things or at least ask questions.  You don't have to diagnose the kid, but definitely seeing if he's okay and discussing it with the faculty doesn't hurt.

The jazz station.  Every time I listen to it when I'm driving home at night, I have the urge to narrate my thoughts in a 1940s black and white film manner.

And now that I say that, I don't think I've ever watched any 1940s black and white films.

I heard the kid responsible for the Virginia Tech murder was severely mentally unstable.  He'd been in a mental institution before, and in my opinion, that should pretty much explain everything.  It wasn't a sane kid making an insane decision.  And IIRC, he was also a creative writing major and wrote very disturbing pieces about murder.  I wonder why didn't his professors step up and say something?

Either way, I'm really annoyed at the aftermath.  My university has been closed twice now because of graffiti from students saying, "If you thought Virginia Tech was bad, you wait until 8:00pm."  It happened a third time and they just closed off the bathroom that it was written in.

I feel sorry for everyone involved.

Hi :)

I found this forum while surfing Google.  I was attempting to prove how geeks of the 90s were way cooler than the so-called geeks of today.  I'm not having very much success really proving anything as much as biased rambling.

In any case.  I'm 20, female, in the United States, attending a university, and currently enjoying a Buffy marathon.  I've gotten bored of MMORPGs, so I'm back to MUDing.  Hmm.  Not sure what else to say, so...hello! :)
