Adam's great; Walrus is a dick, though.
At least, on the show he is.

I thought the Walrus was a Paul, not a Dick.

I am an Orange County native, and having never been to WorldCon, I decided to go when my friends from the UCLA Sci-Fi and Fantasy Club (I'm an alum), solicited our mailing list for volunteers to run the main live game at the con - A Space Cadet Academy Live Game.

I had.. fun seeing my friends and helping run what was a very cleverly-designed LARP. But the con itself was sort of sad, I have to say. On major problem is that the gaming was COMPLETELY SEPARATED from the main con. It was sort of poorly organized and not a lot of people knew what was going on. I'm glad I was a volunteer and didn't have to pay.

As it so happens, I sort of know the guy who was listed as the director of programming, and that said, I'm not surprised the con turned out that way. When I was a teen (We're talking a good 12, 13 years ago), I worked my first job at a game store in Orange County. This guy was a game-store groupie. He is a strange man, and forgive me for saying, kind of creepy. He had to be at least in his late 30's at the time, and let's just say as a young female sales associate at a game store, I didn't feel entirely comfortable with him. He used to pass me his business card that said he was an "occult investigator", and not the more scientifically-minded kind, I'm sure.

So yeah, when I saw he was director of programming, I knew that con was in for it. But really, who else were they going to get? Sadly I think the age of sci-fi cons is probably a relic of the past.
