So, the guy in the cube next to me is on the phone talking about someone.  He's a second-level manager.  He's talking about one of his indirect reports.  He's telling the person's manager that the person "needs to not make statements like that...it's very alienating...blah blah blah".

Here's the thing.  This guy is one of the biggest douches you'll ever meet.  He is constantly negative, condescending and talking shit about anyone and everyone, and in doing so alienates, like, EVERYONE he comes into contact with.  Fucking pot, meet kettle.  Asswipe.

I just sat in the lobby of hotel and filled out an application for a position then waited two fucking hours to be told the position had been filled.

They had better have been spending that time trying to make a decision or something.
Fucking Jackasses.

Oh that fucking pisses me off to no end.  Several times over my job searching in the past few months I've had my time wasted in that kind of way.

One where I get called to come in for an interview, and I get there and the "interview" is them telling me I'm overqualified, and they just don't see me sticking around, so they've already given the job to someone else.

And countless times I have gone through an arduous application process, filling out tons of paperwork and online forms, only to be insta-rejected via email (sometimes the SAME DAY).

Thanks assholes, just because I'm unemployed doesn't mean my time isn't valuable.

I.T is a pretty broad field.

It is indeed.  Servers, routers, network infrastructure, desktop support, application support, telecommunications, backup solutions, information security, best practice processes...

What's wrong with VBA?

The syntax is horrible.

Its restrictive.

You start with a gui and stick the code in.

and most of the time serious software has to be redeveloped in something better.

I've been coding for almost thirty years, in a dozen syntaxes from assembler to SQL, and I have only worked with a fraction of the languages and platforms out there. And let me tell you this, straight from the hoary old mule's mouth:

Programming is programming.

You can be a C++ guru and STILL get stuck with debugging someone's over-designed order tracking system written in VBA in the butt-end of an Excel sheet. It's still a learning curve, and it's the same cerebral process.

For a couple of years, I had to code using a proprietary system that was an ill-conceived marriage of Pascal and VB. But I did well with it. Because programming is programming.

Well gosh, I'm not assuming I know more about it than you. But having used VBA, Delphi, SQL and C++ amongst a hand full of others. I know which i prefer, and thats with little experience I assure you. Its easy for you to have a broad opinion on it with years of experience. I only have a few years, and i can only go on what i have learned so far.
