Well Citrix is not that hard.

Just make sure it has sufficient capacity and don't put your web server on one of the citrix servers. And think thoroughly about printing.

So last year, they decided to add two days to our contract and give us no extra pay for them. They're called "passport" days for some reason.

So now to cut the budget, we're not going to have to do those two days anymore, but they're taking the money away. Uh...there was no money for them. But they're taking money anyway. And I bet we'll still have to do all the stuff we usually do on passport days, but we'll have to cram them into regular days.

They give us so much bullshit extra work to do, that I don't have time to prep for TEACHING anymore.

You should delegate. Have your students take turns being the teacher for the day while you sit back and critique them. For their homework, they'll get to grade the homework. If collectively they do a poor job, they'll all fail and they'll have no one but themselves to blame.

You can sell this as an innovation which is enhancing learning by doing and most people learn by doing rather than by seeing or hearing.

I'm already in a lousy mood, and then I get to work. Today I've had to deal with the following:

A customer "forgetting" that they were supposed to have done the dev work and turned it in to us, not the other way around.
Network Solutions neglecting to contact me in any kind of timely fashion about us repeatedly seeing DNS failures.
Having to teach one of my coworkers how cascading templates work. If you set a variable in one template, but never call that template later on in the cascade, it's never going to pass the value of that variable into another expression. Why do I have to teach this shit to someone who's a) been here for almost three years, and b) has been working in templates for almost half that?

I doubt if you are serious.

Anyway, let's assume you are serious.

This very common problem is caused by the fact that Citrix removes the default printer setting from the registry of the user at log of. Then a printer is assigned according to the available Citrix printer tool. This process goes wrong a lot. If the user is too far in his logon when this is applied there is no default printer.

There is two choices.

1. If your users always stay in one place and do not roam around you can simply remove the wiping of the registry key. The setting is then saved like in a "normal" windows or TS logoff.

2. If your users do roam around and need different printer at different locations then there is a challenge. There is a script that you can add that checks if there is a default printer at logon, if none is a available it brings up a box where the user can set their default.
