My bank sucks
« on: April 19, 2007, 01:43:10 PM »

It’s official my bank sucks, now they have issues even taking my money.  They refuse point blank to accept money over the counter and tell me if I wish to pay any money in I have to use the machine to do it.

I had to queue to change my money at the counter just to queue again to use the machine, only for the machine to not like the notes I had and to queue again to get more notes.
WHY CANT I JUST GIVE THEM MONEY, I THOUGHT BANKS LOVED MONEY.

AAARRRGGG, so frustrating.

Halifax bank has lost my custom.

I've been with Hallifax for years, never had a problem.

Did they give you a reason for not taking your notes?  That does seem a little strange.

Perhaps you should write a letter to Howard? ;)

Next time you level, get the point blank shot feat. hehe!

Banks are bitches, unless you have money. The way banks work is simple: If you have a lot of money, you get personal attention. If you don't, you get a bank machine. See, with your minimum wage salary, you're just not worth the hassle. See over the last few years, banks have been trying to reduce the number of bank tellers and replace those individuals with call center employees. As such, teller houses have been reduced, and number of tellers have been reduced. Tellers are instructed to direct clients to bank machines for basic operations. Nowadays, if you look up your bank's phone number in your phone book, you can dial that local number all you want, you still end up in a call center and talk to a dip shit that will attempt to make a sales pitch to you, even when you're just calling about a stop payment on a check or something like that. I know because I've done that job myself for many years, years I've spent being very angry, years I will never have back!

Now, once banks actually think you're worth something, then they start kissing your ass. You get a mortagge with them, some sort fo monthly enttitle plan, credit lines, credit cards with anual fees, investments, and so on, well then you're all set. And they don't have a choice because if they fuck up or don't give you deals on rates and so on, you can just take all your shit next door. Also, they appoint a personal banker to you, a financial adviser, etc. That's because these "experts", and I use the term loosely, will have access to your entire financial records and will make you wonderfull offers and sales pitch, while making you feel important, and when you fall for their plan, they make more money. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Banks do offer great services that you will need and will apreciate. It's only fair that they make some profit in exchange. But I don't like the fact that the service quality is based on how much you bring in, because in the end this only confirms that you're still a number. Just a more important one. Everyone should be treated equally, but that's not how businesses operate.

I primarily do business through a credit union.  I do have an ING Direct savings account and I have accounts with WAMU which is a mutual bank.  I gave up on traditional banks when Wells Fargo was taking $10 a month out of my account because I didn't have a $1000 minimum deposit.  Bastards.

I think it's because you're trying to give them notes instead of actual money.

Do the notes say something like "This is a stick up, give me all your money"?

One of those will get you some attention, believe me.

HSBC Savings (5% interest/NO fees EVAR) and checking at Wachovia; but I do everything online. I won't go in a bank unless I absolutely have to.

I prefer the bank machine to a human being in many cases, and I'm never at the bank when it's open anyway.

So you colonials never call money notes?  Is it just 'bills'?

The full term is banknote, but like everything else it got shortened at some point.

It's not common, but we have the word. Like "cue" (queue), we spell it both ways, but never use it  meaning "to be in line"; although our use is similar.

Who uses which term: "on queue", "in queue", "on line", "in line" ?

Yeah actually. Forgive me if this is all over the States too and I'm being an ignorant beer chugging hockey playing igloo dweller, but over here you can use your bank card to get inside to use the ATMs (just the little room right before the main bank entrance).

We have them too. I think most are outside though.

...only the atm's that is...
our igloos are mostly just printed on boxes of ice cream,
and then not on all of them.

Here it's generally "in line" or "in (a) queue."  It's down to prefferance whether it's a line or a queue, but you don't hear "on queue/line" much.

So you call dollars "notes" and you call us "Colonials".  Interesting.
