Transformers Theme is great,too.

As much as I appreciate the effort, was the post really worth it?

BUMP!

I've been sick for days, so I'm having a movie marathon.  There's a line in this movie that really annoys me.  It's the Sector 7 guy saying, "What you are about to see is totally classified."  Really?  TOTALLY classified?  As opposed to sorta-kinda classified?

"Fatally killed" fits in with that, too.

Speaking of transformers, they're filming Transformers 2 about three miles from where I live at the old Bethlehem Steel plant.

I've been there! Well, driven past it. :-)

You should "totally" go and get some spy shots.

I'm massively bumping this thread again.  I'm sitting here wacthing this movie again, and I have a question for some of the military types around here.  When the military guys are in fight scenes and they're calling in air support, they keep referring to "Killbox One Alpha".  I've googled it and can find nothing really useful about the term.  Is it made up for the movie or is a real battle term?  If so, what exactly does it mean?  I ask because they use the term in both the city and in the desert.  How can both places, separated by such distance, be called Killbox One Alpha?

Sounds made up to me. I've never heard it. Sounds like someone saw a real map once with the "boxes" ( grid lines ) and thought it up trying to sound . . . whatever they were trying to sound like. Trying to sound 'real' or 'authentic'.

Oh; and when you call CAS, (Close Air Support) you call in YOUR position and the target's location relative to that. The pilot starts to scope out the area keeping where you are in mind.
Sort of the same for artillery; but with that it depends on the mission and the targets.
For example; if you were being overrun and needed a general barrage (<--NOT an 'official' term); you would call your position and the targets' respective. If you were an forward observer; your mission might be to find targets, get their coordinates, and call in the ordinance on that target specifically; using those coordinates.

I originally googled that close to a year ago...that lady's question was only posted 3 months ago.  I admit that I was lazy tonight and didn't re-google.   :-P

I like that, it was useful.  I think it also tells me that you can't have two "Killbox One Alpha"s...since it seems to be an overlay on a map.

 Your find-fu is impressive!

Just so I don't look quite so stupid, I never heard of this "killbox" thing-a-ma-jig in ten years of service (combat included); however my hitch ended in 1996.

You didn't sound stupid -- I figured it was a new term. With the rate of change in military technology, I bet there's an entire new jargon every 4 years or so. I bet you had a whole secret language of your own.
