I am not a mod, everyone knows better than to give me power.

I know Demo from HN, circa 2000 or so.  I have a low post count here because I am not a whore.

People think my avatar is me and read my posts in my avatar's voice.

Random internet peoples' opinions about me are basically meaningless, which means I have been a jerk in the past, and probably will be again in the future, although I think I have softened up a bit.

I think logical consistency in one's belief system is very important, and you can rest assured that I am always right, especially when I make political posts.  You may not see why, and I might piss you off so bad that you'd rather burn than agree with me, but I am.

I hardly ever post to new people threads, though I do read them once in a while.

I like art, beer, and old BMWs.
I hate computer programming, D&D pencil and paper games, and many other things that most self-styled geeks go way overboard on, but I know about computers and work in the industry, and lean toward the intellectual pursuits, so most people don't notice little things like my lack of a Star Trek themed wedding (although I do actually own a Klingon dictionary).

Now go call up your mama and tell her Joe says "word".

I'm scribcake aka soupbandit23 aka ... whatever.

  • I am not technically a regular, but I like to show up randomly and act like one for a few weeks before disappearing again.
  • I am freshman at Kettering University of Flint Michigan, and am majoring in CS with a minor in CE.
  • Flint is a terrible city, avoid it at all costs.
  • I have been banned more times than I'd like to count before finally learning how the internet works.
  • I have extremely broad musical tastes, and will listen to basically anything that is encoded properly and is not low bitrate.
  • I dabble into everything I can, including art, music, etc.
  • Because of the above point I can play violin, piano, guitar. I am decent at drawing stuff, and consider myself and amateur photographer.
  • I know German and can speak, read, and write it to some degree.

I am ihatecliches.

Yay for lists!

  • I've been here for about two years, give or take a hiatus.
  • I like to think I'm much more canny than I actually am.
  • I'm in New Jersey.
  • I'm a nerd of all trades, but I specialize in the film, history, music and literature (and trivia!)
  • If your name was determined by what people referred to you as the most, I would be Smartass.
  • I multitask always.
  • I'm convinced that Dark Shade is going to change my life drastically (probably by horribly disfiguring me).
  • I'm an insomniac and I have obsessive compulsive disorder. Fun, fun mix.
  • I'm an English Literature major, working on a secondary education teaching certification, three novels, a poetry anthology, and a short story collection.
  • I'm ambitious, and hard-working to match.
  • I'm way too into World of Warcraft for someone with my IQ.  :|

A word to n00bs: don't be a tool and we'll all have fun.

Hello, I am not Inigo Montoya, I don't even know if you know my father, but prepare to die anyway.  It's always good to be prepared.

My login here is pbsaurus and no, I won't tell you what pb means.  At one time I had the most posts on this board, but that loquacious bastard Demo may have passed me.  To tell the truth I haven't even looked.  Anyway I'm a regular, even though I took about a month off.  Talking about this site here not my bathroom habits, although I've been crapping colon pythons lately.  Sometimes I doubt that the sucker will even flush.  Perhaps it has been the leftover corn and jicama salad that I've been having to eat everyday since my wife made too much of it for the 4th of July bash.

So a little bit about me.  Later this year I will be the ultimate answer.  Age-wise.
I'm a Senior Business Analyst for the largest EDA company on the planet.  Vespertine's company is one of our large customers and BizB's dog shares my company's name.
I've been married for almost 19 years and I have a 20 month old son named Ian.
I have an MBA and a BA in Psychology from UC Davis.
I'm a masters swimmer.
I have never tried poutine (although I tried to find some when I went up to Vancouver).
I know Lacerda's true identity.
I own several of the members on this board.
One of my former occupations is the same as that of this board's founder.
I am a sock shoe sock shoer.
JoeSixpack does not piss me off, and he's correct when he says he's always right but that's only because he always agrees with me.
I am the only one in internet land who has ever met Ivan and possibly the only one here who has ever met Vespertine.
Right now I'm listening to Polkacide.
I live in San Jose, CA and have lived on both coasts plus several of the flyover states.

Enough about me.  Now here's some advice:  The internet is just like real life.  First impressions matter.  Ettiquette is appreciated.  Think before you run off at the keyboard, just like you would in meatspace before running off your mouth.  If I forgot anything, I apologise.

My online handle is Jimmi because my real name is far too awesome for people to know. I'm 14, I've been using the Internet since I was 3. I love to read and grammatical or spelling erors bother me. I love to write, I have these ideas floating around in my noggin and I hope to make a profit off of them eventually.  :|  Part time author in the future I hope, I like to exercise, I wrestle and I hate television. The only game console I have that I play is a Nintendo 64, and I've played it basically every day since I was really young until last week when.. it didn't turn on   I wish I had my own professional website to share my thoughts and some forums so people can rummage around arguing.

I have nothing more to add.

Except I'm agnostic, and I've managed to combine anarchism into marxism, I like girls, I think I'm fat, and I think Journey to the Center of the Earth was better than the X-Files: I want to believe. I'm also a member of several other forums but I only post regularly in one of them. The forum was made 10 years ago, I joined 3 years ago, and have more posts than anyone there which is a pretty sad accomplishment  :-P

I neglected to mention that I'm Mexican. Born in Chicago so illegal immigrant jokes are irrelevant.

One thing I've been meaning to ask is, why can't we post YouTube/Google videos? Is it something to do with Simple Machines?

And yes, of course.

You can post the link to the youtube video.  The ability to embed youtube videos is added to simple machines forums by a plugin.  It would appear that Chris couldn't be bothered to maintain such a plug in.  I can't blame him.

If there's a demand for such a feature, then by all means I'll add it. As of this point not enough people have brought it to my attention that they feel as though such a feature is needed on the forums.

Post the link.  Embedded videos are annoying.

I wish I had my own professional website to share my thoughts and some forums so people can rummage around arguing.

The problem with kids today as that they think people are interested in their thoughts for some reason.

catwritr here. I've been a regular for, ye GODS, 5 years?? (If by "regular" I mean that I took an entire year off.) I know most of these other people from HN. I used to be a mod, but then I went and disappeared and someone took away my spatula. I've met reimero and Demosthenes in real life, and more than once.

I'm amused beyond words that scribcake is still a thriving member. His ban threads were the funniest things I'd ever participated in.

That's all you get for now.

I missed the train, but this is for posterity.

Some things about Luci.
  • Luci is older than godivan.
  • That is rather old.
  • Luci may be the only geekery member who has been in Prison.
  • Luci calls himself a lifelong career jazz, pop/rock, and classical musician, which is usually translated as "lazy and unemployed bastard
  • Luci came here from HN, the reasons for which he joined said site are unclear to him.
  • Luci is under the impression that this is some kind of art forum, or possibly an espionage collective.
  • Luci has been fired at least twice in his life from both Capital and Atlantic records. He still does work for them.
  • Luci likes a bit of Shampoo in the mornings.
  • Finally, Luci believes that Peter O'Toole is the greatest man to have ever breathed.

I enjoy welcoming new members, when I am here. I do not, however, enjoy doing so in a sensible manner.

I would also like to add that

<-(imagine a dot there) - Luci has more than a firm grasp on the written word; they are ALL tatooed on his hands.
