Topic: What do you do with your days off? (Read 7100 times)

I'm currious as to what you guys do on your days off from work, especially those of you who don't have a regular Monday thru Friday work schedule.

More and more I'm finding myself not knowing what to do with my days off since I'm too worn out to do anything on those days. Does anyone else have this same problem? Do any of you make a "to do" list for your days off this way they don't seem like they're going to waste, or do you just wing it and get done whatever you decide to get done?

I never make to do lists. I always plan on doing nothing and just kinda end up doing whatever comes up. Now that I finally have regular hours (m-f) again for the first time in two years I'll get to see some of my friends that have had weekends for a while.

Unemployed = every day is a day off. *WHEE*!

When working I generally just want to do as little as possible on days off to relax and recharge. Usually play video/board games with the kids, etc.

When I was in the army, days off were for drinking/recharging. Pretty much the same thing now that I'm in college.

I wear myself out even more on my days off. Cleaning, errands, yardwork etc. I feel like I don't have time to do anything fun.

(Yeah, I say this on the last day of school. Maybe I'll have a little more "me" time coming up.)

Commonly referred to as "Gibbon' it" (think Office Space), I do nothing. And by nothing I mean post here, play Counter-Strike, or let my girlfriend come up with something to do.

The funny thing about it is that after the spring semester ended, I thought I would have more time to myself, but it seems that I have just about the same amount of time to myself as I did during school.

My 'time off' IS my real life. I go do stuff for some company solely to finance the good part of my life. Yep, I have a lot of stuff to do; but it's almost all for ME (or the animals; which is something I want to do anyway, so, eventually even that is "for me"). Even house cleaning - it's MY house and I'm cleaning it cos I like it that way. I don't really have to rush it, when I feel like taking a break; I do. When I feel like stopping and doing something else, or nothing at all; I do.
Some of the more fun things I do are riding my motorcycle, playing my guitar or beating the hell outta the drums, singing - LOUD; along with the music usually; sometimes just a capella. But always LOUD; belting it out. That and the drums are VERY therapeutic, btw.
Also 'piddling' around in the yard or in my shop; I've many projects underway, and many ideas to implement around the house and land. None are really time critical (at this point), so I can move freely from one to the next if I get aggravated.

along the same lines, i thought i'd have more money when i quit smoking in august, but i'm still just as broke.

anyway, now that it's hot as hell out, i spend a large part of my days off outside in the sun. i fucking love summer. that aside, friday afternoons/evenings are usually spent with my best friend, erin- we generally go to our favourite mexican restaurant for lunch or dinner, then play cards and catch up. saturday nights, my friend drema and i go out, and sunday is usually reserved for laundry and relaxing, as well as bill-paying and anything else i put off doing during the week.

I catch up on sleep. I work at campus safety at my school. In the summer our shifts are 8 hours and there are people on duty 24/7. Right now I'm in the middle of a marathon (8 hours on, 8 off, 4 on, 4 off, 8 on, 8 off, 8 on, 16 off, 8 on). That's 36 hours working out of 72. It wouldn't be so bad if the Vicodin I'm on didn't make me want to sleep.

My normal schedule is a lot better, but I ended up trading shifts to get a lot of free time earlier this week. I used it to take my girlfriend to the Toledo Zoo. Then I sliced off my finger tip while cooking and spent a long time in the ER waiting for my blood to clot.

Lately, I haven't been feeling well, so I've been sleeping and staring at the TV with as minimal social interaction as possible. Usually, I sleep, stare at the TV, get dragged to graduations, weddings, lunches, attempt to escape to read a little only to get interupted by "life" (which is a nice way of saying "my mother"), or play PC games.
