I'd recommend watching Scrubs if you don't already. The first three seasons are brilliantly funny, and there are many great episodes in the next 4 seasons though the quality drops a bit.

I was also a very big fan of Alias, which is sadly off the air now. It was created by JJ Abrams, the mastermind behind Lost, so the plots were exquisitely set and the cast was perfect. But like Scrubs, it loses its steam by 4th season according to me.

I recently started watching Eureka, which is absolutely amazing in my opinion. It's partway through its third season now.

Right now I'm hooked on Lost and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

EDIT:  Oh, and Demetri Martin's Important Things.

Well if you can stand the first 220 episodes of Naruto, Naruto Shippudden is awsome! (That is if you like anime), Also heroes has really been going in a great direction lately. I find it becoming more and more demented.

Not sure how many of these have already been mentioned:
-Deadwood.
-Heroes.
-Battlestar Galactica (For me the new one is better).
-The West Wing.
-Yes Minister.
-24.

But you can virtually guarantee anything by HBO is going to be good, until they spend to much and have to drop it mid-series.

You're on the right track with Lost! It's an amazing show. Just a little warning, in my opinion season 3 was terrible. You still need to watch season 3 to get what's going on, but just know it gets much better;)

If you're looking for a good comedy to watch, 30 Rock! All the hype is true, it's a great show!
Drama- True Blood, very good as well.

Enjoy!

There are so many great series these days!
If you're in a killer mood Dexter is definitely the best!
The murder/investigation/forensic stuff are great too - CSI, Bones, NCIS, Numbers, Medium, etc etc.. Bones is usually lighter than the others.
If u wanna laugh, try How i met your mother or Reaper.
Then there are the classics like Heroes, X files (which is always nice to watch again and again ;))
House of course is amazing!
If u like Lost, there's a series named Carnivale that might interest you. Plenty of great actors there, great plot. It has been aired i think around 2006 but u can still find it online i guess. Too bad there were only 2 seasons made but its awesome!

It's starting its second season but I would recommend starting with the first, of course.

Chuck (two seasons) - kinda funny - got some witty lines from time-to-time. (Easy to find on Netflix.)

Most of my other favorites have already been mentioned multiple times in this thread.

Lost (which is hard to get caught up, if you are looking for a new show then maybe something else)

Entourage (guilty pleasure, last season sucked, but the first two are classic)

Mad Men (great drama on AMC about an ad agency)

Hung (just came out, pilot was interesting)

Californication

You should watch Law & order CI. That show only gets better as the episodes go on. And watch The Othersiders!! Its an entertaining show that’s on Cartoon Network Wednesday at 9pm. And if you like the show join our group on Facebook!

I definitely recommend Psych. It's a comedy and a (kind of) crime show, all in one! My best friend Tyler and I watch it all the time, it's wonderful comic relief. And James Roday is H4WT.

Another good one is Monk. A little unorthodox, but hilarious. It's about an OCD detective. Trust me, it's waaaay better than it sounds. Tyler told me about this one, and I just sort of looked blankly at him, but I watched a single episode and got hooked.

Oh, and sam55 is right! The Othersiders is a great show. Kinda creepy, but great. And... MythBusters (as if nobody has heard of them). And, uhm... NCIS, CSI: Miami, CSI: Las Vegas, and CSI: New York, all those crime shows.

And one of the best shows ever: Numb3rs. The guy uses *math* to solve murder cases. Haha, I must be a dork, because I got really excited when I found that out. (On a side note, my Geometry teacher loves the show, too, and she put up a poster for it in the classroom that says, 'We use math every day.' It's actually quite creepy looking.)

I'm sad that "Monk" is in its last season, particularly since so far it's better than ever.  Monk is one of those rare shows that has managed to stay consistently good every season... which is why I still watch it.

Yeah, I wish they wouldn't end Monk. I'm upset to see it go. You're right, it's fared way better than most when it comes to season-to-season quality.

I'm a Sci-Fi Junky

Dr Who

and if Homoerotic is your thing Torchwood. John Barrowman makes me wish I was a man.

But most of all Battlestar galactica is the daddy of all series and by far the best TV I have ever watched.
