Slovakians still exist too.

I use mail merge in word to produce our goal letters since it's a manual process which should be developed in documentum, but other cap exes have a higher priority.  As for checks, I write about two a year.  Which is sad, because I have really cool Star Trek checks.

I write checks every month for bills. You can't send an e-payment through US Postal.

Not everybody has that set up. My phone/DSL provider doesn't, my CATV provider didn't either(when I had cable). If you look at Lumpkin County, Georgia on *maps, you'll see the biggest town in the county is Dahlonega; but only because it's about the only town.
Oh- also I can't pay online at the Farm Bureau (home insurance).

And my power company. Amicalola EMC.

edit - ** err... apparently they've set online payments up now. Nice.
Last time I checked, you could view your account; but couldn't pay anything.
I'll still write a check, though. It's that hands-on part that keeps me aware of
my expenses. Doing it online is nice, but I don't always remember who I paid already,
how much it was, etc. And there's no way I'll ever have an automatic draft again.
Tried that once, and it just doesn't work for me. There's always JUST under
enough so it goes to overdraft (= fee). I think it's a scam. They see how much
you owe this month and the due date; and wait until your account doesn't quite
have enough funds...  the Thursday before payday, etc,; then debit you; automatically
sending you into overdraft and collecting another exorbitant fee.

At any rate, I feel more comfortable with checks, as I've had to have the canceled check
itself to wave in someone's face before to prove I paid. Also, you can 'stop-payment' if
you need to for some reason. Unless you make online payments with a credit card; as
soon as they submit the bill your money is GONE. Your real money; not your credit. You can
contest a credit card charge and resolve it before they ever have hands on your money,
but if it's straight out of your account (EFT), or via a debit card; your money is gone. You can
contest any debit/charge; but you're already losing because they already HAVE your cash. They
can just ignore you and keep your money if they want. Who's going to hire a lawyer and pay
court costs and time off from work to get $300 back?

I ordered a turbillion checks and then forgot so ordered a bunch more.  They all have my old name and address on them.  I use them for charities that don't take credit cards  No one has complained yet.

I am super. I am a geek.

I can make a lot of money really quickly but I can't do it vertically.

That's all I had to say.
