In other pieces of history there was a minor battle with a spammer who would come on and post the word spoon, to which we responded with like force to his board, a terrible publicity stunt by the offender. We learned about the tales of bob, GSI's squatting spider who turned out to be quite deadly and the size of a small dog. Most members have migrated to http://gotthegeek.com , also known as The Geekery.

I don't know who wrote this but I loled.

The elections weren't in 2000 though. I ran for President against Ergo and I think Biz. I didn't get to HN till 2002. And I was winning until Flipside voted for the stoner to tie it up. No one would break the tie so Lacerda declared rod the President. I should remind Flipside of that every Christmas when I text him. Do you think Ergo texts him every Christmas?? I don't think he does!!!

And didn't Kryzek or CyberSniper have to deal with that giant spider? Not Si. That thing was huge.

I ran across that a while ago; I still don't know who wrote that description.

Kryzec still shows up on occasion in IRC, most recently a few weeks ago.

I miss HN at times. Mostly I miss some of the folks that used to hang around there that I haven't chatted with since HN went away.

Strange memories on this nervous night on the Internet. Five years later? Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era -- the kind of peak that never comes again. Hackernetwork in the early 2000s was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run...but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Hmmm. I should swing by IRC again some day I suppose. Anyway, the text about HN is actually quite funny and reading it makes me miss it as well. At least parts of it. I did also have a spider for a while. Cant remember if it was before HN or during. Either way, I'm still alive and kicking!

Please start an intro thread in the correct forum before posting. Also you may want to take some time to read some posts and the get the general feel of the forum before posting. Resurrecting dead threads is almost never a good idea.
