It seems that the great DB incident of 2005 left a few of you out the door and no one noticed. But it doesn't matter, I created a new writer group, and if you can read this, then you're part of it! Welcome!
Now, I am unable to setup access to the geekery CMS utility. Chris would have to do that. However, you can start working on articles and once they are ready, I can post them on your behalf. I beleive Lacerda and possibily Cat have access to the CMS as well so they could also help you out. In fact, I think this is probably the easiest way to proceed for now. When you have something ready to go, just post it in this thread or PM one of us.
Some people are asking me what kind of material we are looking for. Well, we're not really looking for anything specific. If you read our existing articles, they range from product reviews, to rants, to political and spiritual discussiosn, to complete nonsense and so on. As long as it informs and or entertains and isn't too offensive, then it qualifies as front page material. Also, if you want to collaborate on articles with your peers, that's what this forum is for. Thanks for your interest!

You guys better stay away from my complete nonsense schtick! :x

COOL!!!
Thanks for letting me in!
-
I will try to be a good writer-citizen, and actually write something!
-
w00t! I'm in too!
-
I lied. I can set ppl up to use the CMS. I'll do that in the near future.

Wow, I am honored and humbled to be in such perspicacious company.

I currently only have reimero listed as a writer within the CMS. For those of you who once had access to the old CMS, the URL has since changed to the following because a new system was put into place last July (2005):
http://admin.gotthegeek.com
There's also a document that I have typed up on using the new CMS, and I have attached it to this post. I encourage all of you to read through it in order to get a feel for the system before you use it.
In the mean time, I will be creating user accounts in the new CMS for all of those who are in the "writers" group on the forums here, as well as @gotthegeek.com email addresses for those same accounts. Expect a PM including your login information from me by the day's end.

You can have it, but if you ever want a collaboration partner, I'm the d00d.

You're a dood?
Sweet!

Here's the stuff that I would like to cover: Drinking, stripclubs, religion, food, sports, and movies. I am eclectic. Do these go into anyone's turf? If so, let me know...I'll back off...I'm just a lowly n00b!
-
As usual, there were several things Judge pointed out that we need to work on before going through with the new accounts. I give it one additional day before those of you without an active account for the new CMS (Mambo) will be able to publish/submit articles.
The following accounts need to be created:
Phife
pbsaurus
Ivan
Scribcake
Vespertine
Detta
Dark Shade

No one really has any turf per se, and you should keep in mind that the vast majority of stuff I post consists of things that are vaguely amusing to my addled brains.
Write whatever you like!

Sounds like a plan.
So, if I write something...should I start a new thread here in "writer's block" for other to comment on it, before I enter it with Mambo?
-
Beats me! Chris?
-
Excellent! I'm in!
I suppose I'll actually have to write something now, eh?
Maybe one of these days I'll even post a picture. What a shocker!

You're such a tease! If you were a chick, you'd be a slut.
-
Sweet. I've got a pair of Grand Theft Auto-related rants in the works...
-
I've been here the whole time and never wrote anything.
I'll probably continue to do that. Leave the writing to the interesting people.

Dude, you let it slip again. Better submit that report.

Noted and quoted.

The idea I had when I created this sub-forum several years ago was that it could be a place for people to get ideas for their articles. For example, if you were writing about how we're all doomed and going to hell because of global warming, you could create a new thread in this forum, post what you have so far, and ask for suggestions or input on what others thing before you post it.
By the way, you all should have PMs from me containing your Mambo (CMS) login information, as well as your @gotthegeek.com email login information. If you have not received it for some reason, please send me a PM.
-
You wanna resend mine? I've totally forgotten my login info.
-
I wasn't sure if Chris did this or not, so I changed it. See your PM.
-
Suede! I'm in too :D
Now I just have to come up with some ideas to write about...

Yay! Remeiro posted 1st and he wins the grand prize of the secret "who's gonna post the first article" contest! And to reward the valiant effort, the geekery is proud to supply remeiro with a whole virtual bag of nothingness! That's right! An emtpy e-bag which can be used to stuff e-things in it, like loading it up with e-crap, set it on fire and e-mail it to someone else! Imaging the loads of laughter this gag would cause!
OK, so there's no secret contest. But congratulations to remeiro for breaking the ice! I just wanted to point out that if you think your article could result in interesting discussions, you can create a thread in "Main page stuff" and drop in a copy of the article so others can discuss it. This is optional of course. Sometimes, the nature of an article may not warrant a discussion thread.

Whee!! I am win!!
