Robert Silverberg's "Majipoor Chronicles"
That is one series I've never gotten around to reading. I've read a series of articles on how he created the world but never the books themselves. I've got to make a point to pick those up.

"The Bible" (http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/4900/emotowned.gif) (http://img402.imageshack.us/i/emotowned.gif/)

I've never read said articles. Do you have a link to them anywhere online?

They have been in Asimov's the last few months, looks like the first two are online

Part 3 just arrived the mail a few days ago and I didn't see it online. He references several books and essays to help you build convincing worlds that I am thinking about reading.

Cool, thanks. Worldbuilding is one of the chief reasons I've always been attracted to GMing when it comes to tabletop roleplaying games. It's always enlightening to look at "the bones boiled to make the soup", as Tolkien so aptly put it.
-
I prefer sci-fi tbh, so I haven't read many fantasy books, but
Tolkien's stuff, and Zelazny's Amber series.
pretty much this
-
Basically all of Neil Gaiman's stuff.
Demo, I always had you figured as a bit high brow for Piers Anthony.

I read the first 7 or 8 Xanth books when I was a kid and loved them, but lost interest in the series at that point. What are there now, 30 of them?
I still think his "Incarnations of Immortality" series is his best work.
-
I tried one or the other at one point but it was James Patterson bad...
-
The Bible.
Edit: Didn't notice Xolik beat me to it.

Burn! *high five*
quite literally, you will burn

Yep, my body's cells utilize oxidative processes.

I like the novel ‘Jane Eyre’ by Charlotte Bronte it’s a fantastic story which is very interesting to read.

Miss Karina, you skipped the introduction step. There is a forum conveniently dedicated to just this. It is my advice that you refer to the registration instructions before the senior members of this forum eat you. Newbie with ketchup is a dietary staple around here. Well, to be honest, ketchup is a personal preference of mine, idk what the others like.
-edit-
I haven't read anything by Charlotte Bronte though she's been recommended before. Personally, I'm a stickler for convincing characters but interesting writing style and setting can keep me even if I don't like characters. What specifically did you like about Jane Eyre?

I don't really think anyone cares what you think. You obviously can't read.

Don't encourage this person. Given the links that were in its signature, they're almost certainly merely a forum spammer and nothing more.

Jane Eyre? We're getting a higher class of spammers.

You can teach a pig to tapdance, but it's still a pig.
-
I believe you mean "bacon that used to be able to tapdance."
-
For the most part I'll leave future newbies alone since I have no discerning taste when it comes to who would be good for the forum and who wouldn't.
And ketchup goes well with bacon even when picking out tap shoes with a fork.

I like you, Gul Vic. I think I'll kill you last! :-D

Oh, good. I can relax until other members stop posting.
When the time comes I hope I'm not too relaxed to notice.
8-)

I'm sure you'll do fine!

I like ‘The Lord Of the rings’ novel it was written by J.R.R Tolkien and I think it’s an amazing book for the readers.
-
Tolkien’s work (The Silmarillion probably being my favourite) is great, of course. King’s Dark Tower series is good. While I definitely wasn’t sold on Javier Bardem playing Roland, I’m bummed they decided not to make the movie. I just tell myself I would have been disappointed anyway. Not hard to imagine, given all they would need to include & how badly they could screw it up.
I enjoy most of Neil Gaiman’s stuff. Philip Dick is pretty high up there on my list, too. I know some think he’s a little overrated & has that sort of Kerouacian pretension, but I like him. How do you all feel about Dick?

Well, a fair number of us around here like scotch...
