Anarchy / Best date evah?« on: July 07, 2004, 05:51:08 PM »Quote from: Chris I still look for other geeks in my school, but there are very few true geeks out there. I'm talking about the kind that run Linux (Even though I don't myself), or the kind that can build their own computer and try to tweak it so they can get the most out of it. *Sigh* The world needs more. About the asking out thing, I guess that's a good idea. I usually just wait for guys to ask me out. I've asked a few guys out, but I'm usually afraid they'll say no or something. That would be horrible. Fear of failure, hm? 3

Aww! That's cute, lol. One retarded thing about high school is how everyone thinks people are weird if they go out with a geek. Guys ask me out, but rarely geeks. The sad thing is, there's not a lot of geeks in my high school. I don't hang out with a geeky crowd @ school so they don't really see me as a geek until I talk. I guess that can be intimidating. Every school year I hope for some new geeks. I am the only female grade 9 (now 10) geek in our school. Me and my geek friends keep searching, but no hope. I've dated a geek but there was the problem that he was reeally shy with me. He asked me out again yesterday, so we'll see how this turns out. I need an (even slightly) extroverted geek. Is that an oxymoron? I'm probably hopeless... 4

Damnit I wish a date could go like that. Instead, I usually end up with some prick who wants to have sex on the first date. Buying computer parts for your girlfriend is really cute. I find that... err... romantic. In a weird sorta way.

We do have a reasonable amount of french. If you drive on the highways, the signs are translated. In order to get MANY jobs around here (every job for the government, tourism, etc) requires you to be bilingual. In Quebec, many times you will have to find someone who speaks english. 8

Yes, I remember. There's a reason why I don't like Quebec. But signs like directions and things that are in french only, so you have to trust you have a good map and pray you don't take a wrong turn. 9

I'm upset that they didn't do the signs right in the first place. 10

I understand. It's just very that it's very overwhelming in Quebec and the french don't like me there. There's some pet peeves I have, like George Bush. Some people I just don't like...

I think the country should be both french and english. We are supposed to be bilingual, that doesn't just mean having french but also having english. I think we should have english/french everywhere and not just english/french and then-BAM!-all french in one province. Sure, they're a french province, but why can't they have translations on the highway signs?!

I don't know much about him, but I liked Bowling for Columbine. I love the part about Canadian news ("Breaking news: New speedbumps!"), and the bit about open doors in TO.

God Quebec is horrible. You go in the right parts of Quebec and they HATE you for not speaking french. You can't even drive around since it's all in french. There isn't english ANYWHERE 'cause they think they're so special. Then they complain that there isn't enough french in the rest of the country. Well, put some damn english in your province 'cause we've got more french than you have english. For * sake... 17

Hm, I shall try this. Wish I knew sooner, eh? Does it run everything? I use Windows for other things, too. I find the MSN is better, even though it's not quite necessary. I use Windows for things like my cam program, graphic programs, burning CDs, & computer games. If I'm just going on the net I'll use Linux. Still, you can't do AS much without Microsoft. What's a good Linux FTP program? I always use Windows for FTPing... 18
