Anyone played this? I picked it up for $10 from a second hand store, and the learning curve is one mother of a steep climb. Had it a week and still cant play it.

I own an junkbo...i mean xbox. This question is mainly for PS2 owners who use the DVD player option. Does the playstation 2 have as many DVD problems as the Xbox does? The majority of DVD's I try to play come up with errors that the disc is scratched or dirty - when the disc is brand new and NEVER been used.

This error has started happening after 15 or so minutes of gaming aswell. Anyone else have a junk box that freezes like this? I read an article talking about reflashing the xbox and so forth, but its just plain shitty that Xbox would have so many bugs appear now (after the warranty expires of course).

Apart from taking to it with a large axe, anyone have an idea on why the damn thing crashes all the time?

Ok, so I figured I may aswell start a thread on it seeing as I am so freaking addicted to this game and wondered if anyone else was either playing it or played it. Looking at getting info, general stuff and places to stash gear seeing as I keep getting overencumbered.

Will presume if I get very little response then I am just a freak (quite plausable) and am like so yesterday. hehe.

Seeing as I am moving to england in May, I had an instant concern about the possibility of the xray scanner wiping my laptop's hd. I have had it happen on 3.5" diskettes before and really dont want to use valuable battery time reinstalling everything on the plane. Does anyone know if it is safe to let it be scanned? Otherwise I might just walk through carrying it in my hand.

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Police Quest Series
« on: January 28, 2004, 05:19:03 AM »
Found Police Quest 1 on an abandonware site. I dont think they even sell the pack anymore in stores. The only one I found was on EBay and its in the wrong format (NTSC) for my region (PAL)

The display is all screwy, the text is just scrambled. Any idea whether that is my resolution or the game I download, also anyone know where I can get a tested copy of the original game? Or any others in the series.

Before I ask my question I'll state that I am only interested in this stuff because Its took expensive for me to go down to the rifle range every week to mess with the scopes for practice, besides the range owners dont allow the scopes to be resighted all that often.

My question is this. I have been looking around for a long time for a decent rifle/ballistics training simulator for sometime that is commerically available. (The US Army has one, but its restricted to Government Use)

The closest thing I found was Police Quest: Swat. The game was pretty buggy and the FMV was fairly nasty aswell. The only thing I liked about the game is that you had to zero in the rifle for various situations of wind and distance for the shooting range before going out on a mission.

My question is, does anyone know of ANY games that have this sort of realism for rifles and sniper rifles? It would save me a lot of time trying to mess around with the range rifles and wasting ammo on just sighting the thing in. The realism I am looking for is for a rifle to be zeroed in, and windage and DCC adjustments for various conditions.

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Wierd Xbox load screen
« on: January 06, 2004, 02:36:01 AM »
Has anyone else had this happen to them on their Xbox's?

It seems to only happen when  I load Halo. Instead of the standard Xbox logo and then going to the production companies animation for Halo, it loads the xbox logo screen and then another xbox logo screen, this logo screen has a swirling galaxy type thing which then explodes and a 3D Xbox logo appears and glows. Has anyone else got this before?
