OK, I have one more question though that just came to me. Is there a good way of locating the virus besides scrounging around in program files? Is there a faster method for finding the main virus files besides scanning the drive I mean? I know that some better viruses will bury themselves in an obscure place.

Arnox, the phrase "if I do say so myself", when used correctly, is a disclaimer that acknowledges personal bias. For instance, if you were to bake a cake, you might say "It turned out quite well, if I do say so myself", meaning, "Of course, I am biased, since this cake is the result of my efforts, but nonetheless I consider it a worthy cake." Personally, I often use it ironically, to also imply that I don't give a rat's ass what people think of my personal biases, but it is more frequently used ingenuously.
I know that many people use this phrase as though it means simply "in my opinion", but many people are thoughtless butchers of the English language.
I hope this helps you in some measure, although I doubt you will take this advice in the spirit is was offered (an entirely disingenuous gesture of heartfelt concern). In any case, I'm glad I wrote this, for, if nothing else, it is yet another brilliant little gem of a post in a long line of brilliant little gems.
If I do say so myself.
Oh fine then. I wish snow white really did have a gun - it would have made the disney movies less lovey-dovey. But then they wouldn't be the classic movies we all know and love, right?
Speak for yourself.

this is a pretty well established way of getting rid of viruses and such. i do it all the time.
Really? Most of the people I talk to have never heard of this method. Some of them aren't exactly stupid with computers either.

Note, the theory I'm about to propose requires a Linux LiveCD or LiveDVD. Both work just as well. Now, I think right when i mentioned that, you guys already knew what I'm going to talk about. I'll talk about it anyway. Well, to get right into it, whenever I get some malware in my system, the first thing I do is to find the basic name of it. Once I've found that, I, then, restart my computer off a LiveCD or DVD. (I use knoppix) I find that if I can locate the virus' main files in my Hard Drive, I can delete them in the Linux environment so when I boot Windows back up, they will be totally disabled. From there it's just a matter of mopping up the left over garbage. I have tried this before with some famous malware such as WinAntiVirus 2010. It worked perfectly. The only problem with this method is finding out where the main files are. What do you guys think?

use a map editor for any games at all? For example, the UnrealEd, Sandbox, Hammer, etc.

Have you ever heard a song on the radio and they don't say the name of the song when it's finished and you have no idea what the name of it was? Not anymore. The best way to find a song's name is first:
1. Note down any major lyrics (words or phrases that are, ideally, repeated) of the song that you remember from it. It's best if you write some of the lyrics down on a piece of paper or your phone's notepad at the time of the listening.
2. Go to google and type in lyrics, the word, first then a space followed by quotes. What you put in the quotes is any of the major lyrics that you remember from the song. Separate different parts of the lyrics by more quotes.
For example, I'm going to look for the name of the song, Closing Time by SemiSonic or whatever.
We note down any notable lyrics.
"time to go out to the places you will be from" "gather up your jackets" "i know who i want to take me home"
Next, google. We'll just use two parts of our gathered lyrics.
Exact search terms: lyrics "gather up your jackets" "i know who i want to take me home"
Boom, first search result tells you exactly what the song is.
Happy findings.

First, how did I know that ivan deleting my comments was a slap? You guys delete my comments all the freaking time even if they are totally innocent and pointless! I think I've been pretty nice about that sort of thing. Another thing. Why didn't you give me a warning instead of flat out banning me from the chatbox? Pretty uncalled for, I'd say. Now I won't deny I get out of hand sometimes in the 'box but come on!
