Earlier this week, I was away on business. If you’ve ever traveled with Air Canada, you would know that there is 50% chance of being inconvenienced in some way due to their incompetency, which I firmly believe is an official job requirement for any Air Canada employees who work with the public. I now believe that not only do they irritate their clients all the time, but I suspect it’s done on purpose. During my last trip, I was subjected to every possible incident that could ever occur to a traveler, excluding plane high jacking or a crash. It’s like they picked my name out of a hat and said “Let’s make sure that sucker remembers this trip for a loooooong time!”

It all begins on a wonderful Wednesday night. I’m schedule to leave from Moncton at 8:00 and arrive in Ottawa at 9:30, with a connection in between in Montreal. As I wait for the plane to arrive in Moncton, there is announcement that the plane will be arriving late and that we would get an update on how this will impact our flight connections later. I consider going back home because it looks like I’ll miss the flight from Montreal to Ottawa anyway. Long story short, the plane finally arrives an hour late and we were told that we would have 11 minutes to make our connection in Montreal. Their exact words were “It won’t be a problem. The departure gate is right next to your arrival gate. Also, we’ve contacted the Montreal airport. They know you are coming and your plane will be waiting for you”

“Great! There’s my incident for this trip! That’s not too bad. Everything should go well from this point!” I thought. Boy, was I ever wrong! We get to the runway to take off, and we just sit there. The captain announces that “they’re just resetting something” and we’ll be on our way shortly. What the hell does that mean anyway? I chuckle as I create the mental image of Seinfeld on a stage mocking them “We’re resetting stuff here so don’t panic. Don’t bother trying to understand what we’re talking about, that’s our business. You just sit back and relax and do and let us do what ever the hell it is we do.” 20 minutes later, the plane finally leaves. “Will I make my connection?” I ask myself. “Sure! After all, they said they would hold the plane. What’s an extra few minutes right? Our bags are probably not going to make it, but they’ll drop those off at the Hotel the next day. I’ll live”

We land in Montreal. I’m in the very last row of the plane and as usual, everyone gets up and anxiously waits to get off. The stupid flight attendants weren’t creative enough to come up with the idea of making the some sort of announcement to invite passengers with connecting flights to get off first. So I wait. I get off, run to the appropriate gate and… nothing. The plane left and didn’t wait for anyone from my flight. In fact, the plane left before we even landed. Also, there is no Air Canada employee in the area to assist us. Great… Eventually, I track one down who informs me to go to Air canada’s ticket counter. Someone would be able to assist me there. After talking to three different Air Canada employees, and getting three different instructions on how to get to that counter, I finally make it there and wait in line. And I wait. And wait. There’s about 20 people in front of me and they’ve been talking to the first guy for 20 minutes. Luckily, there are 3 employees at the counter so hopefully, this should move. But no. In fact, two of them get up and leave. “Later!” They tell the remaining co-worker. “Our shift is over!” Fucking cock suckers! They can’t stick around and assist? Hello? Claim some fucking overtime.

At this point, I’ve been waiting here for a while and think I better go get my luggage before someone steals it. I leave the line, which isn’t the end of the world because I was at the very end, and make my way to the baggage area to look for my bags. No luck. They are missing. I go to the lost baggage counter and explain the I flew in from Moncton, but never made my connection because my plane was late. “Are they sending you to Ottawa by bus tonight or will they make you sleep in Montreal and fly you out tomorrow?” the man inquires. “I don’t know. There’s a huge line upstairs and one person to assist all of the stranded passengers. I don’t know what they’ll do”. He tells me to go back upstairs and find that out while he looks for my bags. He tells me to return once I know.

I go back upstairs. Patiently wait. I notice a girl who says “I’ve called the bus station and we can still have over an hour to catch the bus that goes to Ottawa. Will you guys pay our fares?” Well… that requires the summoning of the client service manager. As she’s coming over to the counter I hear her whining in French about how she just finished dealing with angry passengers who gave her a real hard time. She goes behind the service counter and says “We will provide you with a hotel room, and we’ll flight you out tomorrow. We won’t pay for your bus. Besides, we can’t be responsible for getting you to the bus station. If the bus left from the airport, that would be a different story.” Hello! You’re responsible to get me to Ottawa you dumb bitch! But of course, being a patient man, I stay in line and keep my mouth shut. Eventually, I make it to the counter and I’m served by non other than the client service manager, who I assure you, knows very little about client service. While she makes arrangements for my flight the next day, she spends her time whining in French to the other employee, doesn’t ever look at me, or cracks a smile. After a while, I stop talking to her in English and address her in French. She’s a little surprised, but doesn’t really seem to care as she continues to bitch about this situation with the other girl. She finally tells me that I’ll be on the 6h30 flight tomorrow morning. “Next!” she says. “Excuse me!” I reply. “While I’m happy that you have arranged for me to get in Ottawa on time for my meetings, what the hell am I doing tonight? We’re am I staying? What’s the deal here?” She points to her colleague and says “She’s preparing some hotel vouchers for you. Go talk to her.” And she looks the other way as if I no longer existed.

The other lady is unable to multi task. I can see her filling out the hotel vouchers. She tells me that I’ll get a $14 allowance for supper and a $7 allowance for breakfast the next morning. Then, she stops what she’s doing and leaves. She returns a few minutes later and starts to chat with the people in the line. “Excuse me!” I holler at her sarcastically. “I can see my reflection in the window so I’m obviously not invisible. When you’re done with your little chat, do you mind finishing what you’ve started and get me a frickin’ hotel? If it’s not too much trouble, of course.”  The customer service manager looks at me as if I was the one with the problem. “May I help you?” I ask her. She pretends I don’t exist. I end up with a hotel voucher with 4 names on it. She says these are people that were on my flight and we can catch the shuttle bus and go to the hotel together. Fine. But I have to get my bags first.

I go downstairs and tell the baggage guy that I’ll be staying in Montreal and flying out to Ottawa the next morning. He says he’ll send the bag to my hotel if he finds them. I say “what do you mean by “If”? the plane left from Moncton and stopped here. There were no connections as my plane to Ottawa left before I even landed. We went from point A to point B. How the hell do you manage to loose a bag when there’s no connections involved?” he says my bag may be in the storage room, then he stands there grinning like an idiot. “Well, can you go check the storage room?” I ask. “Oh, well do you really need your bag tonight? We can ship it to your hotel tomorrow”. I reply “First off, I won’t have a hotel in Ottawa since I’m not sleeping there tonight. Tomorrow, I fly to Halifax for other meetings I have Thursday so yes, I do need my bag and I need it tonight. I don’t want to wear the same suit for 3 days because you think making your way over to a fucking storage room is too much trouble.”

You have to understand that I’m a very patient person. Too patient sometimes. But now, the tone of my voice is changing and I just can’t help it anymore. The baggage guy leaves and later returns empty handed. “Can’t find them. They’re not in the storage room.” he says. I tell him he’ll just have to check in the luggage loading area. “The bag left the plane, but didn’t come out from that little hole in the wall so logically, it must be in somewhere in between.” He calls someone and 30 minutes later, the baggage belt starts moving and my bag comes out. Finally!

I head back upstairs at the service counter and ask where the 3 other people listed on my hotel voucher are. They look at me as if I was an alien. I have to explain that I was given this hotel voucher which would provide everyone listed on it with a hotel room. They start hollering out names and I finally track down 2 out of 3. Fuck it. The fourth person is on her own. I tell the other two people that we need to catch the shuttle. “Oh, we have to go get our bags first”. OK, no problem. Right this way. I bring them downstairs and they start looking for their bags. No sign of them. I spot the baggage guy and I go over to him. I tell him these people were on my flight and their bags didn’t come out either.

He goes trough the whole questioning process, and offers to ship their bags to them tomorrow. He stands there and grins like an idiot. “Listen!” I say “My bag was lost somewhere back there, and you found it. Using the exact same methodology, get their fucking bags so we can get the fuck out of here. I have to get up in 4 hours to catch my flight tomorrow morning. He explains that there was maintenance on the belts and that one section was deactivated and that is why the bags never came out in the first place. “I don’t care. Just get the bags”. He calls someone and they start up the entire system. No bags come out. He says, part of the belt is still not working and your bags are on that section. That’s why they won’t come out. We’ll mail them to you tomorrow. The passenger next to me says “If you know where the bags are, can’t you bring them over?” “No sir, as I said, that part of the converyor belt is broken.” He replies. I jump in and say “I am aware the the job requirement at the service counter requires incompetency and lack of customer service, but I was unaware that the baggage handler positions required employees to be without arms. CAN’T YOU WALK OVER TO THE FUCKING CONVERYOPR BELT THAT IS NOT FUNCTIONAL, USE YOUR ARMS, PICK UP THE FUCKING BAGS AND CARRY THEM OVER HERE?”. He calls someone again. Moments later, the bags come out from the belt. We also managed to spot the fourth person listed on the hotel voucher so we’re off to the hotel. We get on the shuttle bus, arrive at the Ramada hotel and are welcomed by the hotel manager, a man named Francis. When he sees a bunch of people with Air Canada vouchers, the first thing he says is “There will be no $14 dollar meal. The kitchen is closed. Also, if you leave before 7:30, there will be no breakfast. The kitchen won’t be opened.” Wonderful!

He takes my voucher and says “OK, you guys will get a room with two double beds” We all exclaim “What???” simultaneously. “We don’t even know each other! They said they would give each one of us a room!” Francis tells us that the vouchers are filled out improperly. It says number of passengers: 4. Number of Rooms: blank. They didn’t fill it out. We get into a whole argument and he says he can’t get paid for 4 rooms if it isn’t indicated on the voucher. I grab the voucher from his hand, lean over his counter, grab a pen and write the number 4. “Here you go, now get me a room.” He freaks out. He says that this won’t match the original voucher and he won’t get paid. If he doesn’t get paid, he doesn’t rent rooms. Period.  We argue and tell him that it’s clear there was a mistake, but he has a contract with Air Canada and he should sort it out with them afterwards. It’s not our problem. He says he’ll give us two rooms. That’s 4 beds for 4 people. It’s logical. I tell him he should polish that logic a bit more because he’s not about to get the Mr Spock title any time soon.

Long story short, the 4rth person on our list happened to have a voucher of her own so she was fine. That left 2 rooms available and 3 people. Francis wouldn’t budge. He said he could get his driver to bring us back to the airport to get new vouchers. Obviously, no one would be at the service desk at this hour se we just collectively chip in and rent a 3rd room. Now we all have rooms. “Would you like a wake up call sir?” he asks me. “Yes. Yes I would! 4:00 am please” He looks at me and chuckles. It’s 1:00 am right now.

Alright, now I’m set! I need a fucking beer. I walk in the bar and the bartender informs me he’s closing up. “Sorry!” “Awwww come on! Just give me a beer and I’ll be done in 10 seconds!”. He says they’re closed. I manage to convince him that my new friends and I really need a beer and he agrees on the condition that we take it outside to our rooms because he wants to close. We go upstairs in a common room, we drink we bitch, I go to sleep and two and a half ours later, I’m back up getting ready for another long day at work, and a trip to Halifax at 7:00 PM that night.

After I spend the day sleeping in meetings, I head back out to the airport, get my ticket, pass security, look at the departures board. All green lights except for one entry which stands out in yellow and reads “AC flight#xxx from Ottawa to Halifax: Delayed”.

I’ll just stop it here for the sake of remaining sane. But now you can see why I strongly feel like Air Canada just pulled my name out of a hat and made sure that whoever’s name was drawn would remember their trip for a long long time.

You do realize I can block entire subnets if I want to?

There is no other way around it, period. If it is not running on the server, there is no way you are going to be able to utalize it if it is not there.

Also, they may require students to use the web-based email to avoid questions like this constantly, as well as people making stupid mistakes. Imagine someone uses Outlook, and then after it downloads all their mail for them, it then deletes it from the server. That same student then goes to school the next day and logs in via the web-based portal and expects to see his or her email sitting there, but it isn't because it is all gone since it is saved on their other computer. Granted, there are ways to configure most email clients to leave the mail on the server permantly, every X days, or only when it is deleted from the program's trash.

Basically, it is pretty much disabled to avoid confusion and other non-sense questions.

My friend Detta has turned in her answers! Let's see if you learn anything interesting about her.

1. I know you like to do you part to help with the community. What related activities are you involved in on a regular basis?

Well, as you may know, I'm in an organization called the Jaycees.  I usually describe it as a community service organization.  It's actually much more than that.  It covers community development, but also individual development as well as business type training.  My chapter  is a registered corporation (not for profit) and the board that runs it changes every year.  I've been on the board for about 6 years now, in different roles.

As far as the community projects that we work on (which I feel to be the most important branch to our organization), we have one called Project WARM, where we split wood all summer long with hydraulic woodsplitters and then, in conjunction with the Salvation Army, we deliver it to needy families who can't afford to heat their homes in the wintertime.

We also organize a monthly bingo game at a local nursing home.  We call the numbers and help the players that need help.  We play until everyone wins the game and we give them quarters for playing.  They love it.

The Virginia Jaycees run a camp for mentally handicapped children and adults.  Every chapter sends people to do maintenence on the camp, and we raise money to send people to camp if they can't come up with the money.

We do so much more.  It's just too much to list.

2. Describe which specific moment, from the activities above, that was the most rewarding ever. Why was that particular moment more meaningful?

As far as the business end of my organization, it felt really good that we were ranked the number 2 chapter in the State of Virginia last year and number 3 in the entire nation!  I was on the board.  I helped with that.  It's quite a feeling.

As far as the community stuff goes, there is one person who I love delivering wood to.  Her name is Elsie Brooks.  Unfortunately, I don't get to go to her house anymore because of the way the deliveries work.  But I do remember one time...she lives on a corner in the city, so we usually drive up to the side of the house and go in through the side/back gate to stack the wood on her back porch.  Well this particular day, the city was working on the sidewalk and it was also very snowy and icy.  So we (me and my buddy Kay) had to haul big pieces of metal away from the back fence, just so that we could back the truck back in there to deliver the wood, and we had to walk 3 times as far as usual, in the ice.  I was a bit grumbly about it...until I saw Ms. Brooks come out in her nightgown and slippers pouring table salt on the steps so that we wouldn't slip.  It was the sweetest thing ever.  She saw that I was sniffling so she gave me her box of tissues to take with me on the rest of my deliveries.  She's a really sweet lady.  I like her alot.

3. How many hours a week do you spend in front of a monitor? Doing what?

Well, I spend just about my entire work week in front of the monitor.  Probably 7 out of 8 in the day for work.  I make brochures and other marketing materials for real estate agents.  If it's a day that I get to eat dinner at home, I usually eat while I play a game online or catch up on the boards (that I just left an hour ago...).  So probably about 50 hours a week.  Mostly working and checking the boards.

4. What is the most important quality a friend of yours MUST have?

Sense of humor.  I have a ton of aquaintences.  But if I can't laugh with someone, I get uncomfortable.

5. What is the one thing that really ticks you off? What's the thing that will make your wonderful smile turn into some undescribable abomination (other than silly questions!)?

Hormones I guess.

Let's see.  I don't like being lied to.  That really pisses me off.

6. If you could save a strangers life by donating one of your organs, but this would in turn reduce your quality of life, what are some factors that would influence your decision.

A stranger, you say?  It would depend on what kind of person they are I guess.  I'm not sure I'd sacrifice my own health for a selfish person (kind of selfish of me, maybe).  Certainly not for a person who hurts others on purpose.

7. Do you give blood?

I try.  I have iron deficiency anemia so they won't let me.  It kinda pisses me off because I always hear that they're dangerously low on blood, but they turn me away because I'm borderline.  But I do try every once in a while.  Take a bunch of vitamins, eat my broccolli and go down there.

8. What is your most cherished childhood memory?

My dad rototilled a big part of the yard when I was a kid so that I could plant a garden.  We even did an experiment because half was in the shade, and half was in the sun.  I also helped him alot in his garden.  That's why he made a place for me to have one too.

9. What is the one thing you wish to accomplish before you die? What do you want others to remember the most about you?

All I ever wanted was true love.  

I tend to bring happiness wherever I go.  I think people just say that because I make them laugh.  I hope there's more to it than that. But either way, I'd like for people to remember that they laughed with me.

10. Who do you most admire and why?

I bet you think I'm gonna say my dad.  Well, he made me what I am, but there are people who make me strive to be even better than that.

One such person is Lou Wilson.  He founded Project WARM 26 years ago.  He saw a news story about a woman who couldn't afford to heat her home so she was burning her summer clothes...not even thinking about what she'd do when summer came around and had nothing to wear.  It was all that she had that she wasn't already using.  The very next day, he went out into his yard and cut down a tree and cut it into small pieces and delivered it to her house.  Then he cut down more trees and sought out other families that needed the wood.  He's still involved with the project.  He interacts with the City of Richmond, as well as the Tuckahoe and Richmond Jaycees and the Salvation Army to make sure the lists are in order, the wood splitters are serviced, there's enough wood out there for us to work with, etc.  That's dedication.  That's inspiration.  He inspires me to do good for others.

There are two others who inspire me in different areas of my life.  I won't bore you with why, but they are Virgnia (the receptionist here at work) and Michelle (my step-sister).

14. Describe a typical Detta week.

I never have a typical week.  Somethings always changing.  I do usually have some sort of Jaycee meeting on Mondays.  Then Tuesday I get to either come home after work and clean the house (maybe work on my part time work).  My buddies I have a monthly poker game, that's usually on a Tuesday.  Project WARM wood splitting has been moved to Wednesday, so I'm gonna try to get there every other week.  There's a monthly bingo game at the nursing home on the third Thursday of the month, and other buddies of mine and I have a monthly movie night, usually on a Thursday I think.  Weekends, I usually either spend with Joe (doing nothing, ahhhhhhhhh), or if we don't get together, it may be because I have some other commitment for the weekend.  Sunday, if I'm home, I get to watch the race.  Rusty's gonna win one of these days.

15. Last one! If you had the power to change one event in your own life, for better or for worse, what would you change. And no "I wouldn't change a thing answers!". If you had to change something, what would it be?

I've always thought that I'd fix it so that my parents never split up.  Now that I've grown up (and am around the age they were when they split and got remarried), I see why it happened and that it's a good thing.  I would however change the way us kids were kinda put in the middle.  I mean, I know they were young and confused, but it's pretty fucked up to make your 15 year old daughter tell her father that you want a divorce so that you can get remarried...when he thought all along that you were coming back.

We continue our journey today with the introduction of the insane one: the one and only Lacerda. And thank God there's only one! He's the man with the twisted sense of humor and the witts to match it! Oh... I know what's on your mind. I know that you, dear readers, expect me to ask the tough questions. You want to know if Lacerda is in fact dude. That is a good question indeed. Will this article shed some light on the matter? You decide...

1. Let's see... I have to think about an interest of yours... Ah yes! Role playing games! I know you currently play D&D 3.1 and perhaps other RPGS as well. When did you start playing these devil games and what attracted you to them?
- I've been playing these stupid games since I was twelve. That's thirteen years of my life pretending to be a little imaginary person doing little imaginary things. I guess what first attracted me to the game was my secret love of B.O. In all seriousness though, the cult of roleplaying got me early--I really enjoy acting, and this is just an outlet for that. A sad, sad outlet. That and I used to be an incredible pedant, so having huge books full of easily misinterpretable rules was a boon. I think I still play because I enjoy the group setting; it's been such a regular part of my life for so long, I wouldn't know how to stop. It's an abusive spouse that's been punching me on a regular basis, but I just smile and concoct stories about walking into doors.

2. When you're playing D&D with your friends, how is your personality around the gaming table different from your personality around the office?
- Somewhat out of necessity, yes. With my friends I'm a lot more informal--which is a stretch, because I'm as informal as you can get at the office. However, I don't think the people I work for would like the constant swearing or terrible sarcasm.

3. How many hours a week do you spend in front of a monitor? Doing what?
- Entirely too many. I work about 38-44 hours a week, so all of those, plus about 20 or more playing on the internet machine. I go to a bunch of forums, I do some odd writing (both in frequency and content) and I generally dick about. I played that World of Warcraft game for a little while, but it wasn't very realistic because my gnomish mage didn't make a single obscene joke.

4. What is the most important quality a friend of yours MUST have?
- Good Lord, a sense of humour. If you don't realize that I'm kidding about 98% of the time, I'll come off as some kind of monstrous dick. Actually that happens anyway.

5. What is the one thing that really ticks you off? The one thing that will take you from a "look! Butterflies!" state to a "I WANNA MAKE SOME HEADS ROLL!" state.
-Absolutism. I really dislike when people are unwilling to listen to other points of view. Especially because I'm always right. Also casual swearing used in a non-ironic manner. LEARN SOME NEW WORDS YOU STUPID SHITHEADS

6. If you could save a strangers life by donating one of your organs, but this would in turn reduce your quality of life, what are some factors that would influence your decision.
-What kind of organs are we talking about here? Call me Mr. Greedy (please don't) but I think I'd like to meet this stranger before I'm shucking off some of my good living to save him or her. As far as decision-influencing factors go, it would be situational. For instance, is this stranger attractive?

7. Do you give blood?
-I have in the past, but not recently. It's not that I'm hoarding my blood for satanic rituals, but...actually, that's exactly what it is.

8. What is your most cherished childhood memory?
-This is the kind of question that would throw me into a state of absolute panic, because I can barely recall ANY childhood memories, let alone cherished ones. I have a lot of scattered memories of good times with friends, but I can't really pick anything specific.

9. What is the one thing you wish to accomplish before you die? What do you want others to remember the most about you?
-I'm going to copy Catwritr for the first part of this answer, because I want my name in print--the only problem is my lack of coherent writing. Well, it never stopped Anne Rice. As for what I'd like for people to remember about me: there was a frood who always knew where his towel was.

10. Who do you most admire and why? (I know! It's your dad!)
-My dad does have an awfully big mustache. However, I'm going to turn my admiring eye over to my girlfriend, mostly because she was brave enough to date me for almost five years. Also if she reads this, I might get some reciprocal admiration if you know what I mean. Eh? Eh?

11. top 3 movies?
-These fluctuate on a regular basis, but here you go: 1)Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas (hence my screenname); 2) Brazil (notice a trend?); 3) Sin City

-What is this, Livejournal now? 1) MC Frontalot – I Heart Fags; 2) Led Zeppelin – Immigrant Song; Beck – Girl. Again, these change on a regular basis, depending on my mood.

-Pho (pronounced "fa"). Vietnamese dish consisting of noodles, onions, beef or chicken, and coriander. Served with chili sauce and fish sauce. OH GOD I AM SO HUNGRY.

14. Describe a typical Lacerda week.
-I work a bunch, spend entirely too much time in front of computers, see my girlfriend as often as our schedules will allow, and then nerd it up on Sundays. I have all the makings of Internet Superstar about me!

15. Last one! If you had the power to change one event in your own life, for better or for worse, what would you change. And no "I wouldn't change a thing answers!". If you had to change something, what would it be?
-Why the hell would I change something for the worse? That's weird; you're weird. You may or may not be aware, but I've had the opportunity to meet Lacerda face to face, and on more than one occasion. I've also met the person he admires and I can totally suport his claim that she is a brave woman! I wish I could meet more of my e-friends. Hello people. Ever wonder who the man behind the this site is? I'll tell you. He's a young ambitious man. I would like to introduce you to the boss, the man who controls the geek universe, none other than Chris himself. I've decided to ask him pretty much the same questions I've asked Catwritr. In fact, I'll be doing the same with the others as well. However, since the initial questions weren't really generic, everyone will get some variety on the first two questions. The thing you'll notice about Chris is that he's not a closet geek. Indeed, he lives in a room where the closet is filled with computer hardware so even if he wanted to be a closet geek, there wouldn't be any room for him in there.

1. Let's see... I have to think about an interest of yours... Ah yes! Screwing around with hardware! What's the most creative customization you've ever made do deal with a hardware related problem?
I haven't really been a big fan with the whole, "mod your computer so you can put as many fans as you can possibly fit in it" to be honest. I have cut away a few fan grills to increase air flow into and out of a few cases.

2. I beleive you were 14 or 15 when you created this site. Correct me if I'm wrong. Where did your interest for owning a part of the intraweb come from and where did you learn the ropes?
According to the WHOIS database, I registed gotthegeek.com on April 22, 2001, which made me 14 at the time, I think. Yes, to all those readers out there that never knew, I am still a pretty young fellow. I wish to keep this site going, but between school, work, updating scripts, upgrading hardware, spending time with my girlfriend, and other family events, there is little time if any for me to actually update this site myself. Many thanks go to TheJudge for providing this place with some content over the past year.

3. How many hours a week do you spend in front of a monitor? Doing what?
I used to be infront of a computer screen a lot before I started working many hours a week. I would say I used to spend between 30 to 40 hours infront of a computer before I started working as much as I do. Now I think it is probably about 20 hours a week, if that. Sometimes I think it is less. What do I do when infront of my computer? Some of the time is spent doing homework, checking and answering countless emails a day, browsing the internet trying to find the driving fource behind life as we know it, checking backups to make sure they have executed correctly, and as well as making sure this place and other sites that I operate are actually still working.

4. What is the most important quality a friend of yours MUST have?
Being the kind of person that I am, I can honestly say that the group of people that I call "friends" is fairly limited. I like people who are honest, and not someone that consistantly makes up rumors or lies to make them seem better than they actually are.

5. What is the one thing that really ticks you off? The one thing that will take you from a "look! Butterflies!" state to a "I WANNA MAKE SOME HEADS ROLL!" state.
Ignorance. I hate people who do not have any common sense, but then insist that they are smart because school or whoever "says that they are" and continue to try and rub it in your face.

6. If you could save a strangers life by donating one of your organs, but this would in turn reduce your quality of life, what are some factors that would influence your decision.
"How much would this degrade my quality of life? Will I be able to perform most of my everyday functions without much hassle?" Oh, and of course I would like to know a little about the person I am helping before I actually went ahead and did it. Obviously if they were a convicted fellon, I would think twice.

7. Do you give blood?
No. I never have, and I am guessing I wouldn't be able to. It's just a hunch that I have. I still have yet to go to the doctor's office in sometime.

8. What is your most cherished childhood memory?
When I actually had time to myself to actually be able to write articles and funny stuff for this site. I wish I had a week or two to do just that.

9. What is the one thing you wish to accomplish before you die? What do you want others to remember the most about you?
I have never really thought about this question because of my age. I'm still pretty young, and I haven't even really gotten the chance to "show the world what I can do".

10. Who do you most admire and why? (I know! It's your dad!)
I can't really truly say just one person, because if I did, I would be leaving a lot of people out that helped to make me who I am now. You readers can thank my brother for getting me interested in computers. Without him you wouldn't be reading this right now. Instead you'd probably be looking at porn.

14. Describe a typical Chris week.
My week is very simple:
Friday Saturday and Sunday I work. I typically put in about 25 to 30 hours during these three days
Monday - Friday I go to school from 7:25 to 2:14 in the afternoon.
During the week I'll usually go over my girlfriend's house, or she'll come over to my house after school.

15. Last one! If you had the power to change one event in your own life, for better or for worse, what would you change. And no "I wouldn't change a thing answers!". If you had to change something, what would it be?
Once thing that I'd like to change, not so much because it affected me, but because of all of the problems that could have been avoided would have to be September 11, 2001. If I could somehow go back in time and possibly stop that all from happening, the world would be a lot different today. I've always wondered how different the world would be had that not happened. Would we still be talking about Gary Condit?

9th grade, actually 8th, but in 10 days school is out!

I remember those days. I was doing the exact same things when I was that age, and I wish I sitll had the same amounts of time on my hands as I once used to back in the day. Now I'm lucky if I get a good hour to look around this place and make sure everything is in order.

Yes, indeed the domain name expired. Apparently for some reason the domain did not auto-renew like it was supposed to, and it took me about a day to get in contact with the right people over at my host to get everything settled.

No data was lost, just the domain name itself expired, therefore geekforum.org did not forward to the correct IP address of this server.

Update:

I still need to reinstall mods, and fix the permissions on some user accounts (IE: Mods).  As far as I know right now, everything should be in pretty good working order. The forums should be able to function without any problems without the extra mods.

I'm also planning on ordering a few 120 gig drives to handle the backups for all my web stuff. The on going problem with a lot of my backups is that I am only working with a few extra gigs lee-way when performing backups, meaning I can only keep a few day's worth at a time between my stuff, web stuff, and everything else.
