I'm currently enforsing (more or less) a no-one-under-18 policy on HN. Exceptions are made, of course, and lots of youngsters have been grandfathered in, but in general threads like this are successfully avoided.

I see only three possible outcomes:

1. 15-year-old girl with chip on her shoulder gets slammed by impatient regulars two and three times her age, causing bad feelings and discord;

2. Regulars two and three times the age of 15-year-old girl with chip on her shoulder lower themselves to her level of discourse (I mean, c'mon... the Omega Code

), causing serious deterioration of the board's integrity and appeal;

3. The thread dribbles on until enough people lose interest, business procedes as usual, 15-year-old-girl with chip on her shoulder drifts away to discuss the Omega Code with someone who still believes in Santa Claus, while regulars two and three times her age are left with the uneasy feeling they have lowered themselves for no good reason, like when you push ahead of a cranky old lady in line at the Taco Bell.

BTW, I've enforced the age policy at HN only once in recent memory, and the subject graciously departed for more fertile venues. No banning was neccessary, and, so far, no feelings have been hurt. And lots of bandwidth was preserved for more fruitful discussions about camping, toilet repair and Halo II.

BTW, "BTW" stands for "by the way", and not "busting the woody," as is commonly assumed in certain parts of some southerly states. Further north, it stands for "Best Tits in Wisconsin", but that's a special-interest application.

i personally think HN has improved greatly recently, partially due to "0 tolerance" etc, BTW (southern style)

i don't know ivan. i think bantering with a 15 year old girl with a chip on her shoulder will help me hone my debate skills.

Hey thanx ivan! I was just introduced to to omega code, although it is a movie I was wondering if anyone new anything about it but your choice words had encouraged me to say, how rude. It just so happens I have Halo and Halo II, along with other various games, I like camping, HN? what the hell is that?

Ivan, and I moderate there. Some people here are members there too. There tends to be a younger crowd here though.
