What the poor/i dream of...

Anyone here who gets Popular Science see the article in the DIY section (Why is this even considered do it yourself! YOUR JUST BUYING STUFF!) entitled: "The Deadliest Gaming Rig"

For those of you that didn't see it here is the specs on this bad boy:

The heart of the system is an expensive Alienware Area-51 ALX SLI.

But even at $5,858 it is well worth it considering its specs:

Intel Xeon 3.4gz processor
1024mb RAM
148gb 10,000rpm hard drive
Silent liquid cooling
7.1 sound card
and 2 yes! 2 nVIDIA GeForce 256mb graphics cards

Throw in a 19 inch NEC Multisync GX LCD display that sports a 8millisecond response time, the Logitech Z-5500 speaker set, and all the other crap that they think is nessecary (who needs a fucking computer light???) which brings the grand total up to:

$7,693

Now where did I put my wallet? :P

Personally, I'd throw some SCSI in there insteead of two video cards as you will see better performance gains from SCSI rather than relying on an IDE device.

Alienware is overpriced crap with pretty wrapping. Much like Apple. Yeah, I went there.

I just read that same article and I have to say, I agree... Alienware is overpriced and then some.

Shop your ass off, compare prices, buy each and every component individually, and build it yourself and I bet you can do it for less than half that.

Okay, maybe not with that exact monitor and speaker set up (you probably won't find those much cheaper, given what they're talking about)... but that's just overkill.

I could build that cheaper...

Probably  use Dual Opterons instead and still do it
