Irrationally: Not much. Creepy crawlies bother me, but I can't said I'm deathly afraid of them.
Rationally: Trusting someone  and getting burned by their selfishness. I guess I'm afraid of getting hurt through no fault of my own.

I think, though I'm not sure, it would be a combination of heights and rejection.

I'm not fond of heights or losing true love either.

Ferris Wheels. I don't get it - I'm not afraid of heights or plummeting to my death, or even of dying. So I can't figure out why I'm scared of ferris wheels. But they scare the crap out of me.

I am deathly afraid of death, and dying alone. I know why for each too. Death I am afraid of because of some encounters with it, damn seizures.  Dying alone, comes with being a geek. Dating only one person, granted she's still my best friend, doesn't help much either.

Heights mostly. Rejection would probably be second. Snakes would take third, although I'm not deathly afraid of them, they just startle me.

What me worry?  I wouldn't say I'm deathly afraid of anything.  Some of my worst fears are losing my wife, my soon to be son, Scooter, or Bear.

I'm with Pb on this one.  Only losing family or possibly friends would be all that i could think of.

Yeah, I don't fear my own death that much.  My loved ones--yes, me-- not so much.

I've got to agree with Pb on this, because if I die I'll probably not care any more, but if my family were to die, well that scares the crap out of me.

I've sat here for quite some time now, imagining myself in a variety of utterly horrible situations, to determine what scares me the most because I didn't really want to post "I can't think of anything."  And.  .  .  I can't think of anything. To be sure; there is a vast array of things/situations/occurences that frighten me to a degree; maybe could cause me to modify my behavior. But as I said I've imagined a variety of things, and all I can come up with is how I think I might feel, which is just me guessing; not actually stating a known fear.

Oh wait- I think I just got it. My parents or S/O believing I'm a failure as a decent person. Anything else I can think of pales in comparison. Of course, at the moment I have no specific S/O, no children, and my family (parents and bro+family) are all in good health. So it seems it could change with your life's situation. Maybe we can resurrect this thread in several and see if everyone's "Most" fears are the same...   I feel sure if I were in love again, I could add their safety/health/life to my most afraid of list.

QOTD 8/2/2006: What are you deathly afraid of? (Honesty is the best policy.)
I fear nothing!

Except heights.... I can barely get on a simple ferris wheel and I hate it when I'm stuck on top while the load/unload people below. Last year, I went to Banff up in the gondola's and it was not a pretty sight to be in there with me. I choose to face my fear of heights whenever I can. I figure I'll get used to it after a while, but I don't. A few weeks agon, I was in Calagry and visited the Calgary tower which as a glass floor section. This is 625 feet above the ground. I took me a few minutes, but dammit I got on and I looked down. Then got the hell off as fast as I could! lol! But I went back a few times. I can't say I got "comfortable", but I won't let an irrational fear stop me. Fuck that shit.

QOTD 8/4/06: There's nothing quite like...
Going to the beach after a long boring day of work even when you're not expecting wind.  Arriving to find that there is enough wind to ride with your biggest kite. Then, once you've pumped up the kite you realize/realise that the wind speed has increased dramatically since you arrived.  Then, having deflated your biggest kite and inflated your 14 meter kite, you get in an hour and 1/2 session on some of the smoothest cleanest winds of the season.  After an hour and 1/2, you imagine that the wind has picked up enough speed that you should switch kites to your 9 meter kite.  And you're right!  After another 90 minutes on that kite, you just beat a very ominous black cloud moving in from the west.  With your gear all packed up, you head home and eat a sandwich.
