My first networking experience.
« on: December 20, 2002, 06:35:44 PM »

Now I'm not the type of guy with 2 computers in his house like all the other lucky kids on the block but hey, I'll take what I can get with one pc and a ps2 ...they both have p in the abbreviations....that is good right?

Nah  :P

recently I've been trying to share my ethernet connection  between my computer and my ps2 and I've somehow learned a good deal about the wonderful world of networking in the past week. Not that I didn't know much before but if you would have asked me what a Cat5 cable was I would have made a witty remark about using a wire to hang a group of baby kittens.. (not that I would ever do that) but hey you get my point.

Basically I'm trying to set up a wireless internet connection between my pc and my ps2 although my original idea was kick ass and involved just jacking the modem from my living room (I'm the only one who is ever on the computer anyway) but carrying it from place to place gets kinda stupid after a while you know? so what I have done now is got  2 ethernet cables and an ethernet wireless access point router from linksys. Only one problem is I'm missing the wireless network adaptor..doy! So I'm gonna go get that tommorow and hope it works if not my original idea will just have to do although running a 15 ft ethernet cable from my comp to my room does seem like a pretty easy idea.

Basically I am gonna set it up like this

Playstation 2 - > Wireless AP - > DSL modem - Phone Jack

Pc - > Wireless network adaptor

Sounds good right? I hope....

All this just so I can play SOcom late at night

What was the point of this thread? hell if I know I was just bored

Peace- HAHA I wasted 3 minutes of your time...I love power abuse. :D

You will be pretty elite once you accomplish this.  Then you should try hooking your coffee maker up.
