What's the point of this?

If you have a laptop, I can understand wanting a wireless connection.  Otherwise, what's the point?

Curiosity of what people think about each and most likely several people may contribute something I didn't know before... what else is the internet for if not learning and entertainment... and this is both!

k,

wired connection

Pros: fast, reliable, safe, and cheaper
cons: not very mobile, and wires can be chewed through by cats rabbits and various other small house pets!

wireless connection

pros: Never used one before
Cons: I know it isn't as secure as a wired connection, also people can jack your signal


I prefer wired because of the safety and speed wireless I am going to get though for my laptop once i get one!

I would only use a wireless connection when connecting to the internet via a laptop. For all other purposes, I always use a Cat5 (Cat6 in the future) cable to connect my servers and desktop computers. As stated above, a wired connection is a lot faster, more reliable, as well as more secure. Though at times it is a pain in the ass to run a cable from one room to another, but in the end it's worth it.

I like wired, because on the one hand, it has wires.  Sadly though, it has wires.

Wireless, on the other hand, has no wires.  If only it had wires, though, it would be perfect.
