Howdy, new to the thread and got a question
« on: May 19, 2010, 03:44:29 AM »

Well hello to everyone here.

I don't really know where else to post this question and I've searched all over the net, but i am looking for a way to "burn" a dvd to an SD card or USB thumb drive.  It would be a copy of a movie dvd.  This is for a project i am working on.  Basically i need to be able to plug in the drive (or card) and have it act as a dvd, including menu's etc, regardless of the computer i plug it into, and it must work on Linux and Windows both.  Any help is appreciated.

That can't be done.

You can maybe put an image of a DVD on the usb drive, then mount the image. But the each host computer will need a program to read the image, then also be able to play the file using the right decompresser / codecs. I suppose you can put that all on the same thumb drive... It's more trouble than it's worth. Just buy the DVD.

there has to be some way.  I know that some thumb drives like my 4Gig sandisk have an automounting disk image that acts as a regular CD in a CD drive so i don't see why i couldn't manage it, and fairly cheaply if not free. As I said, there has to be a way to do it, if its being done to some degree.

What if you found your son in the pit stop as the pivot man in the middle of a circle jerk?

Oh, crap, this is the wrong thread for this. Sorry.

I need to move to California if they are doing things like this at pit stops.
