I am looking for a program to which i can create jpg, gif, and animated graphics for webpage production... any ideas? and not some $600 dollar photoshop crap I can't afford. Thanks!

You might want to look into The Gimp, which is just about as good as Photoshop. Well, almost.

Gimp is faaaaar better than Photoshop. For one...it's free. Two, it works smoothly. Three...there's a hell of alot more plug-ins, tutorials, and groups that are easy to use/get. No subscriptions to anything. The WinGimp thing I will admit sucks so I hope you have linux.

Don't just look at gimp though. There are alot of little programs out there built to do specific stuff like render black and white shapes into texture mapped, 3D objects. Oh yeah, don't forget to look at style sheets either.

Even most shitty community colleges will carry the Adobe suite for a serious discount to students. They also carry M$ offfice. It doesn't quite match the gimp's price, but if you're used to it, and it's worth it to ya, you may want to look there.
